The Pens are old and bad but it's still insane to me that Dubas would rather trade Guentzel than try firing Mike Sullivan. Like how do you not fire Sully a couple months ago and see if you get a new coach bounce? If it doesn't happen and you still suck, at least you tried something. And then you still trade Jake in that scenario. But to make that move without even trying to replace the coaching staff...ludicrous. And now they're gonna double down on Sullivan this summer and give him another new set of players and they'll probably still be dogshit next year.

Dubas has a prior record of holding onto his coach for too long, so I don’t see why he should get the benefit of the doubt. Also the whole reason he came to the Pens was the promise of more authority/autonomy so it’s hard to believe that the org poached him with that promise and then immediately handcuffed him.

I kinda doubt Dubas came to Pittsburgh without having a full mandate to do what he wants to. I feel like it's more likely that Dubas actually likes Sullivan and doesn't want to fire him. Alternatively that he's waiting for Sullivan to perform badly enough to warrant being replaced in the off season.
