I'm not defending Tesla in the slightest, but in the current situation it might be that none of that applies - it was a single occupant whose front doors apparently worked as normal. It could be that the car was tilted dramatically as she valiantly tried to scramble out of the back seats, but that's just dramatic speculation. If someone had driven an ICE car into a pond and died like a fool it'd barely be making the news.

That being said, there is no way I'm ever getting into a Tesla, not to drive nor to be a victim passenger.

Keep in mind that depending on the model/year, the shifter is operated though a tochscreen, making it much easier to gently caress up and end up in the pond in the first place

This is also a valid point.

Until the car is full of water and you're drowned, the pressure from water makes it quite difficult to open the door.

Has there been any testing of the cyber trkkk with regards to cutting passengers out in an emergency? Stainless can be significantly harder to cut than regular steels used in cars.

Like if my vape clouds bug out my Apple Vision Pro while I'm getting road head from my first cousin and in a panic I gun it over a hotel sign and slam head first into a wall buckling the frame enough to get the doors jammed, how long do we have before our charred corpses become a permanent memorial for my families shame and disappointment?

Funny you should ask! Apparently, this is something Tesla thought about at some point. They have PDFs available for first responders on how to access most of their vehicles - however the Cybertruck is not on that list of links.

Yeah but it’s difficult to overstate how deep into nowhere that ghost town is.

If Perth is New York City, these piles of asbestos are on the shores of Hudson Bay, or about twice as far away as the town formerly known as Asbestos, Québec.

Until the emergency release is the same as the normal door handle (which it is still not), it will continue to be a terrible risk to the passengers. People hopping in the back seat don't get an airline steward instructing them on what to do in an emergency when the lights go out; they'll be flailing at the door handle, nevermind even searching for hidden panels to remove.

I'm frankly surprised that they're allowed on the roads at all in NZ. Maybe the local models have changes?

edit: Sorry this is excruciatingly offtopic.

Personally I always thought Door Handles were a pretty good solution to the problem of How To Open A Door. Emergency or no.

We had them for like 3000 years at least though so it was probably time to disrupt that poo poo.

From what my few kiwi friends have told me about NZ and several YouTube contributors I'm imagining every Tesla there having to find a guy called Ted to cut a hole each side of the door/card and fit one of these guys with pop rivets and fibreglass in a shed marked "The Tedquarters".

Thanks for the info. Also, that dude needs to be the OSHA thread mascot. riding around the asbestos city in flip-flops in his golf cart. And this is how air traffic control gets their temperature and precipitation data. This guy knows nothing can kill him. He knows it can only hurt him if he goes around digging it up or something foolish like that.
