He just came in to the league as an insane athlete with an incredibly rare combo of explosiveness and power and he doesn't have either of those anymore. He'll be pretty good at everything but not elite as he once was and I think $12mil a year and a ton of guaranteed money you expect some more of that. This might be some cope but I also just really hate giving non premium positions massive contracts and am completely fine losing Barkley if it means the Giants can have an OL that isn't the literal worst in the league for the first time in a decade!

The Panthers need to build an entire offense so they know if their #1 QB is a bust or if he just sucked because every player around him sucked. But also a few of their best defenders were hitting free agency now and they didn't have a ton of cap space despite having 0 foundational pieces under long-term contract. So they end up letting dudes like Burns and Luvu go so they can sign a guard for $20 million and overpay someone like Calvin Ridley and recoup some of their lost draft capital
