Yeah, it was a really drat good show. Even if you're only a casual fan, it's worth your time to go see them. I had a blast (although they played a 2.5 hour show on a Sunday night, which shows a serious lack of respect for the ~95% of their audience who had to go into the office the next morning).

You could have left after 2 hours and it would have been the same thing as them doing a 2 hour show. You have the power.

Oh, I was just joking about the National being dad-rock and the audience of the Wellington gig being about 80% public servant by volume. I don't actually think it was rude, and I have no complaints about the set length.

You all heard of Jungle? They nice at what they do.

I guess think Ratatat if they were a larger collective and influenced by old school R&B and disco rather than brooding dark indie rock.

Oh drat, I was just going to ask friends tonight if they wanted to get tickets. Guess that's not happening unless they add a third date, which is pretty common here in DC.

Wye Oak is putting out a Variations EP(?) with new arrangements of songs off of Shriek that swaps out the old synths for strings and brass, and the new version of Logic of Color is spectacular; can't wait for the whole album

I liked this. With her last album as an exception, she otherwise has consistently put out great stuff for more than a decade now. I did hate her Masseduction tour where she performed without a band, just with backing tracks, and occasionally playing guitar while standing on stage motionless. And it was strange with Daddy's Home how she wrote an album dedicated to her father who had just returned home from prison for doing white collar crimes, and seemed offended whenever people asked about her father during press interviews.

Pre orders are up as well, I went for the clementine vinyl as that seems to be this album's colour scheme. Plus no Jack Antonoff production!

I think I'm the thread's designated Nick Cave Liker, and I've gotta say — as much as I quite enjoyed Ghosteen/Carnage/et al, I'm very loving ready for him to start writing actual songs again and this new single is a great sign. Really excited to hear the rest of the album, August can't come quickly enough.

Glad their back and were able to withstand the death of their band mate, seemed they might have been done forever.

They're a band that perfectly encapsulates that mid 2000s era of alternative music.

I didn't! He hasn't made it to New Zealand in the last couple of years, sadly.

I've seen him 5 in concert five times, I think, and also went to his half-concert-half-AMA-session thing he did a few years ago, plus a talk/Q&A back when 20,000 Days on Earth came out. Any time he's talking he's either saying something profound or funny, it's great.

I got to ask him about the script for Gladiator 2, apparently it happened because Russell Crowe just phoned him up and was like "Hey Nick, got your number from my agent, you wanna write me a movie?"

Edit: I also met him at the airport once, and he was very gracious about me being a huge overexcited nerd. Warren was also lovely, but seemed quite shy.
