A squarebody is 79.6" sans any mirrors, so new pickup is actually about the same. Mainly taller, and a *much* higher hood line/grille (as that video posted in the Terrible Cars thread detailed.)

Did I do that right? Approximations of course. I can't be arsed to look up the exact weight. I have no idea how much force that really is, but I assume that it's enough to take a fair amount of Armco with it when it plows into the railing.

However it's pretty soft, more of a grandpa car and the dashboards are wacky. I like the more sporty interior and simple dash in the XSE Camrys much better and the dampers are tuned a bit tighter, I'd like the least amount of float as possible lol.

Also alternatively put different shocks in the ES, a 10-12 year old car is very likely due for a suspension refresh anyway.

I really like the sporty-ish XSE black interiors (with alcantera seats and door panels! lol) but it seems that 80% of them are all four cylinders. And if I got a Lexus I'd just get the GS, no point getting the ES if I'm gonna go that route. They reduced the fender flare while making the car larger/squarer for ‘77-79. They leaned real hard into right angles, with curves reserved for the ol trunk bulge alone. The mirror is still the widest part, though thankfully there’s only one. I think it sits around 83” wide with the mirror.

Man, fatigue from the damned tooth infection is killing me. I know this stuff, really! I did muster enough energy to start refurbishing the trailer I brought home over the weekend. Cut some extraneous rusty bolts off that used to hod the decking, etc., straightened both fenders out (one was really mangled, but actually came around OK) and got started on surface rust removal for painting. It got dark, but I got like 1/4 of it wire brushed and Rustoleum Rust Resolver coated: I somehow did not take pictures - before or after - or the fenders.
