This will be interpreted as the situation stabilizing, 2023 being an anomaly, and therefore business as usual is fine. wtf did they expect to happen? haven’t they ever built anything out of sand at the goddamn beach? a sand dune isn’t gonna save your poo poo

Good old sand If anything can withstand the tides, it's surely sand oh gently caress where'd all of our sand go

Spending half a million dollars piling up a bunch of unstabilized sand instead of doing even the slightest bit of "google the wikipedia page and skim it" level of research on how sand dunes are held together really gives me hope for our ability to successfully adapt to further challenges

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's a chance of running out of sand suitable for making glass because it has to be sand created via the tides - desert sand, made with the wind, is too sharp and angular to be used in this way

Crushed up rocks have the correct texture to make concrete but architects don't like it because it doesn't look as nice as beach sand.

You need a seawall for a situation like that and oceanfront property owners absolutely despise seawalls. Building one essentially destroys your beach and may even be illegal since they tend to gently caress up coastlines in areas further down that aren't protected. Oceanfront property in general is often a big, fat losing game because anything that removes your beach will tank the value of your insanely overpriced property.
