I'm still on the fence if this is just another record wobble in the destabilization of the climate or if this actually a tipping point

Nobody should really be wanting that to happen but I'd be interested in a few things if it did

The AMOC collapse keeps having its date ranges pushed forward and none of those models really account for the oceans getting implausibly hot all of a sudden.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's a chance of running out of sand suitable for making glass because it has to be sand created via the tides - desert sand, made with the wind, is too sharp and angular to be used in this way

Worse, it's sand used for concrete

Crushed up rocks have the correct texture to make concrete but architects don't like it because it doesn't look as nice as beach sand.

I bet they got a quote of $750k for a proper retaining wall, went "hah, my business brain genius knows that's a rip, we could do it with just sand!"

Then spent nearly as much to have it fail in 3 days.

You need a seawall for a situation like that and oceanfront property owners absolutely despise seawalls.

Building one essentially destroys your beach and may even be illegal since they tend to gently caress up coastlines in areas further down that aren't protected. Oceanfront property in general is often a big, fat losing game because anything that removes your beach will tank the value of your insanely overpriced property.
