Bunnings has the best website of any company in Australia. Let you choose which location you want to head to, then tells you if it's stocked there, it they have any and which aisle and bay you can find it in. Wish other sites were even half as good. But, yes, they absolutely build stores just to kill off other hardware stores.

The websites for most retailers have gone to poo poo with the introduction of their "3rd party marketplace" or whatever they call it I dont care what some jackass is selling through your website, i want to know if you have x and is it in stock
|
# ? Mar 13, 2024 00:34 |
Yeah Bunnings has a Marketplace now, except whatever you buy from it can't be picked up from a Bunnings store - so you have to pay that 3rd parties shipping costs

Not being able to filter out marketplace stuff is loving criminal. Bunnings half arses it by letting you filter for in stock at your store, but I'll go to other stores! Don't make it weird!

The QBD website is nice, it says if a store has low stock of a book so you know they might only have a couple copies

The thing that shits me about Bunnings is they have bay locations but they don't actually label them at any of the stores I go to so while you can be pretty sure you're in the right aisle actually finding a small piece can be a huge pain in the rear end and yeah the stock isn't quite real time which can be annoying when you're searching for something and it turns out it just isn't there but tbh real time stock updates are a thing I'm starting to have to deal with in my job so I know how hard it is to keep it actually accurate

thing that shits me about bunnings, is they sell low quality garbage for jacked up prices, you may as well roll the dice with aliexpress and get the same thing with a different colour for half the price. Im trying to think of 1 thing i have bought from there, that i either a) didnt return on the same day b) couldnt be hosed returning, but it was missing poo poo c) used maybe 3 or 4 times before it shat the bed Then on the other hand, i cant think of a single tool or other bought from aldi that didnt work

The localish masters had a really good range of fasteners and related hardware, cheaper than bunnings and you could buy the amount you needed instead of having to go with the packs of 5 or whatever bullshit they worked out to make you buy overs.

Masters had nice stores but they were completely hosed and died due to their own stupidity. They had an ordering system that would just double the amounts over and over each time, then try and reject the deliveries from suppliers. It drove everyone involved bonkers. Bunnings had an Insider who was leaking proposed site info, and then buying them up to block them from expanding.

They're building a bunnings at loving Tempe for absolutely no reason. There is one 15min away in alexandria that is loving huge. they would be far better off putting it in campsie or one of the other inner west poo poo holes like croydon. just going to gently caress up traffic around there even worse than it is (because theres already a decathlon and an ikea there)

The only reason the bunnings in Katoomba exists is because there was a pre existing mitre10. The current location of the woolies was the coles until the building was bought by woolies and started the whole war with them buying the shopping centers their competitors are in.

ADMITTEDLY I am channelling Bucky here and just looking at the map with zero other context. doesnt loving matter. WE DO NOT NEED A BUNNINGS WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF EVERY OTHER BUNNINGS.
