Wade was just brought on as additional help to coordinate the initial investigation and prosecution effort. He built the case, but any assistant district attorney in Fani's office can take over the lead role.

I guess it'll depend a lot on the text of the decision, but I don't see how a chudge appellate board that would have sided with Trump on this would have any trouble buying into "if there was inappropriateness, he should have booted them both". The evidence presented was so paper-thin that anyone buying it would rule in Trump's favor no matter what. I agree that this sure seems like splitting the baby to make the defense shut up, but I don't see any grand strategy like some of you are.
