Big brained move using ai voice translation to translate English speakers to Japanese in their own voice, then subbing it

browsing tubi I found an old movie called Suddenly starting Frank Sinatra as an assassin planning to kill the president. former irl OSS soldier Sterling Hayden is the sheriff trying to stop him. there's also a remake starring Ray Liotta and it's directed by Uwe Boll

Ghost Leviathan posted:This is has been how animation has worked since day one lol And it’s always been a problem, especially in anything that’s not comedy. But, I’d say it’s usually not as big a problem in a lot of western stuff, especially things like Looney Tunes, because of the different, I dunno how to say this, “cartoonishness”? of them. To keep talking about Looney Tunes, a lot of the time the voice work is more about the audience getting to hear what wacky new exaggerated impression or routine Mel Blanc is going to do rather than someone trying to do a more “realistic” voice for a wholly independent character. It’s almost like a Stand-up routine.

ozymandias isn't really a fascist; there's no cultural (distinct from social) or economic components to his plan. it would (and indeed, was designed to) work just as well with a socialist mode of production in a communist society as it would with capitalist liberals. I wouldn't even call him authoritarian, I don't think; something like "technocratic mandarin" would be more appropriate in terms of the story, as far as villainy goes he's the most sociopathic and dangerous dude in Watchmen. siding with him is bananas, he's categorically a bad guy. but to be fair, given his means, I can sort of see respecting - or at least recognizing - his relative restraint, since he could have done so, so much worse. like, if Rorschach had his money and intellect, the world becomes a neverending hellscape

Back in my day we would buy DVDs that had an additional audio track where the Director or someone would dub their thoughts and production stories over the movie.

the The Gentlemen tv show is obviously a made-for-tv version of a movie, but it's still pretty good and goes down like water. lots of good performances, fun twists, Guy Ritchie always has such believably annoying fuckups in his stuff, the two leads are sexy in attitude if not appearance, Vinnie Jones. what more could you want.
