I also haven't seen GLOW either, which as a huge wrestling fan who has an unhealthy crush on Alison Brie, is basically unfathomable. Her husband, the lesser Franco, has written and directed a lot of her stuff and he doesn't seem to be entirely competent in those areas. I'm glad they're working, but I wish she would do better stuff and maybe not so much Dave Franco's indie early 2000s vibe movies.

As Ebert's review shows, going full Tex Avery Wolf about actresses was pretty acceptable well into the 2000s. Knowles's review was so pornographically over the top that even by the standards of the era he had crossed the line.

It holds up. The writing and acting are both great. The humor holds up as well, is not mean spirited or anything like that There are some things like a may December relationship that would not get the same on screen treatment today. Also some homophobia, more like using dated language but with good intentions in that quasi progressive 90s style There’s also a lot of magical realism that was a welcome surprise. I’m on season 3 now
