Did you buy an actual branded Sodastream or one of those knockoffs?

One of my old housemates was a big fan of them. I just noticed who owned them at the time and was :geno:.

Sodastream was bought by PepsiCo in 2018.

I got a Drinkmate, though I had no idea who owned Sodastream. It was just because Drinkmates can carbonate anything that isn't pulpy and Sodastream can only do water, you have to add any flavoring or anything afterwards and mix it

I got really bored with tacticlol douchebags asking about home defense poo poo and I was like, my guy, I store it disassembled and locked and keep no rounds in the house.

Clay shooting *loving owns* though and although I’m mostly anti-private gun ownership (really just anti-unregulated ownership) I wish I had a place to shoot clays.

i've never been hunting in my life and have fired a gun maybe 5 or 6 times.

I could see myself getting into hunting but only if I also learned how to dress it, skin it, butcher it etc. I'd also never want to hunt something bigger than a deer.

I could never sit in a high hide surrounded by doe in heat and just pick poo poo off. that strikes me as barbaric, cruel, and frankly boring.

This is to say nothing of big game hunters who are the scum of the earth and deserve it every time they get trampled or mauled to death.

I love fresh caught walleye and eat so much of it in the summer. I don't really hunt because I didn't grow up doing it so I can't dress it and I don't care for venison. I do occasionally hunt pleasant because that's really fun and it's tasty. I'd hunt coyotes because they suck and I wouldn't feel bad about controlling that population. I did once shoot a beaver that took down a dozen trees over the span of a week.

"Yes I can hear you, I don't have ear cancer!"

There’s a minor bit of scuttlebutt here in CO because one of the commissioners on our wildlife board was basically harassed off of the committee by hunters for not being “pro-hunter” enough, despite being a hunter himself. The big lobbying groups here have been captured by sports hunters who only want Parks and Wildlife to focus on keeping game animal populations high at the cost of both the flora and the predators that are at risk in the state. We introduced wolves back to the Northwest corner of the state last year and these people flipped their loving lids. In their eyes the state should just be one giant game preserve that they can use to pop elk at their leisure and they loving suck.

I firmly believe that hunting is a critical part of maintaining the ecosystem because we’ve knocked it out of balance in so many other ways, but these tools are going to gently caress around and wind up with much more onerous restrictions than if they had just been reasonable about it. Unfortunately a lot of the worst people seem to be from out of state so they’ll just spend their money loving up the food chain in Wyoming or Utah instead.

Leperflesh
May 17, 2007

we got rid of the wolves and now we have to hunt deer and aren't doing it enough (but really we need to get the wolves back, because hunting deer human-style doesn't change their behavior the way wolves do, and we need them to stop eating the growth margins of our forests so they can regenerate)

beaver are another keystone species and we actually need them to chop down trees and mess with our waterways, to massively increase the habitat and diversity of those waterways as well as increase the capacity of the environment to absorb and control floods which also reduces rates of erosion in the rivers which reduces silt buildup in the channels at ports that we keep having to dig out and also makes the agricultural runoff problem worse, but again with the beavers we'd have to actually let our rivers and streams behave naturally and that'd inconvenience people who buy property along those waterways because sometimes their house might not be ideally situated

lewis & clark said beaver tail was the most delicious thing they'd ever eaten though so I kinda want to try it, if there was some way to ethically do that (there isn't)

Wyoming reintroduced wolves almost 30 years ago, has a population of 300+ wolves, and in 2022 had under 100 heads of livestock lost to wolves.

Colorado also has a program to reimburse any farmers for livestock lost to the wolves that were reintroduced.
