If you're referring to Griffin, he's from the Dominican Republic and ain't white.

Also Griffin making the all star game is hilarious. He was there as the guest of teammate Damaso Garcia. Just before the game, actual all-star Alan Trammell got hurt and couldn't play. So since they were a guy short and Griffin was already in town and going to the game anyways, he got a seat upgrade.

My Dodgers fandom has been pretty blessed but I don't think it's come close to what my father got. The Dodgers moved to LA when he was 5 years old, and won the WS when he was 6, 10, and 12. He saw a Koufax no-hitter in person along with one of the 1963 WS games. I think he said it was game 4, which was a Koufax CG to complete the sweep and the only time they've clinched a title at Dodger Stadium. If it wasn't that game then it was Game 3, a Drysdale CGSO. They won twice more in his 30's, he was at the Kirk Gibson game, and he also managed to catch Kershaw's no-hitter in person.

I was at the game where the Rays clinched the playoffs for the first time ever and it was the coolest. They didn't just shoot champagne at each other in the clubhouse, they did a full lap of the field shooting champagne into the stands. On the drive home there were people calling into the postgame radio show crying about how they've been watching this team since 1998 and didn't think they'd ever see it.

We would love to start on the road every season, but unfortunately, so would every other team. Even the teams in warmer-weather cities want to push as many home games to summer as possible because attendance isn't just based on weather, but school. There's no "usually" about scheduling. League refused to start us on the road in 2015 when we specifically requested as long as possible to get the new video boards up and running.

That's the current Nationals beating the future Nationals, which is really funny when you think about what that implies for the Nats future.
