FIVE STARS!!

I have strong opinions about how much I love the art in Ballard Street, perhaps one day I'll be eloquent enough to elaborate on the intense and honest admiration for the joy of life, the love of shapes, the emphasis of pressure, the eye for details that Van Amerongen has. I never knew that he existed before he showed up in these threads, and he's one of my absolute favorite artists to pore over. Buuuuuuuuuuuut I just accidentally stayed up until 3am playing Stardew Valley†, so. Don't hold out hope for my literacy, is what I'm saying.

I think it's how both of the authors are removed from the time and have time to reflect that they can look back at those days and go "This was awesome, this was lovely*, this was just a regular day, here's some sidestream stuff that happened, it wasn't bad or good but it was memorable. I learned so much during that time."

That makes it more relatable.

Pregnant Again.

So like I think what really solidifies why I thought this comic was about animals getting married and getting pregnant is because at this point I've identified the Holbrook Rhythm of what he cares about and what becomes staple stories in the arsenal, right. Every year an Easter comic, a camp comic, etc. But there's enough sameyness to all of that and the fact that the pregnancies and marriages just happen, right? And they go on for as long as he wants them to and then Baby Genius #99 becomes a focal point of the comic he can just trot out whenever. But it's the randomness and nebulous amount of time that's going to be spent on that making them notable and stick out, because everything else just fades into the aether as predictable routine noise.

this on the other hand I didn't expect and boy howdy I know that the other bunny helpers (Miranda and Fiona and Rudy and Kevin's mom) are adults but uh. Danielle's proportions are part of why I don't super like a ton of women's rompers? This looks like a sex outfit. She is a grown-rear end woman with a prominent bow on her chest showing a ton of leg. This feels like if they had a cheerleader outfit in the closet and George has a football jersey he likes to wear and then somehow Danielle actually did go join the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders full-time. Also wow everyone's really short in general in this comic, huh. anyway. speaking of fashion.
