Ed has no friends. Even his wife hates him.

End of chapter! One of the Mangadex comments on this chapter noted that it felt a little like a “mommy blog,” and I can see it - it certainly is a different tone than what we saw in volume 1. But the “what the gently caress is up with this little weirdo” energy makes up for it IMO. Next chapter is a bit of a time capsule into mid-90’s home computing in a country where desktop computing still hasn’t really achieved very good penetration even 30 years later. It's A Sketchy Life, and I'm still a week behind on these, but we might as well be timely with the Easter cover (March 29, 1928, Garrett Price, as mangled by bulk digital processing).

I'll get to the rest of that soon, but in the meantime, here's March 22, 1928, beginning with yet another signature that I can't figure out.

Sigh.
So about roughly 20 to 10 years before this comic my grandmother used to pick strawberries for extra money along with her sisters and their family around Santa Cruz. The farmers would crop dust all over the fields and the drift would settle on the pickers. She died from a rare form of stomach cancer linked to one of the pesticides used during the 60's.
A few years back I was having coffee with a neighbor and on his wall I saw a bunch of paintings of what looked like the central coast CA farm fields from the air. Turns out his grandfather was a retired army air pilot, amateur painter, and crop duster pilot in Monterray and Santa Cruz area.
Awkward.

Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?
The Jungle Patrol has absolute blind loyalty to the point of absurdity so this entire multi-month weekend story arc has been The Phantom dropping monster condoms so that his subordinates think he has a magnum dong. He probably should've led with the cool artifacts.

I guess the stated or implied reason is he wanted to reinforce the mystique of the Unknown Commander before anyone with a three digit IQ asked questions.

Edit: v This is the otter-based romance I read this thread for. Hooray! :3:

God it's amazing to me how much Randy botched this as a loving writer, all because he's decided his entire thing is "the avatar of non-toxic masculinity".
He didn't even SHOW Popeye being like, remotely tempted by a fight. Not even for like a Simpsons-style "Do It For Her" moment.
An actual story would be "Popeye wants to fight but he knows he can't and he has to think about Seet Pea", going straight to "he is just a good guy and reformed his ways immediately" is... not a loving story!

"AGH! GOATS!" is one of the all-time greatest single panels.
