That waffle house boyfriend story is probably fake but it is an incredible piece of writing regardless and I think about it a lot BC it reminds me of the time I ordered a rare steak on break at work and I ate it and the chef asked how it was and I said it was a bit too overcooked and he picked up a knife and stabbed it into a cutting board with incredible force and yelled "and what the gently caress would you know" and I didn't make eye contact with him or go near the kitchen for a week and then he got fired for smoking meth in the loading bay

The guy I consider "my chef" once said "here's some brownies, have at 'em" at the beginning of service, then when half of the glass pan of them was gone a couple hours later when he got back he freaked out and threw it into a wall about it cool, dude, now there aren't any, way to go. you definitely showed me and all of our customers!

I don't think you'd get anything out of it. The AI-generated YouTube scare of a few years ago with like Spider-Man knocking up Elsa from Frozen wasn't based on kids choosing to watch it, it was meant to exploit YouTube's autoplay algorithm. That works on, like, toddlers who parents gave an iPad to but who can't navigate to other videos. This is akin to those AI-generated Family Guy streams. It was a novelty that was interesting for 5 minutes and now no one cares about it. There's not going to be a generation of kids growing up on this gibberish, but it might generate a few AI panic articles from like Slate or something.

it is weird how credulous journalists, especially covering tech and media, are. even a surface understanding of like... the concept of communication should put a damper on the AI alarmism. people don't watch video content because it has motion and legible language. they watch it for human-to-human communication of human meaning. edit: even if that meaning is cackling at glitches in stalker or whatever
