Bad Irish accents in film are an incredibly long-running joke because pretty much no actor ever has done a good one. Angelica Huston spent her teens in Ireland, so she gets a pass, and Steve Coogan's family is Irish, he's a tremendously good mimic, and he spent a lot of childhood holidays here - his very specific mountain sheep farmer impression is perfection, not just the accent, but the whole manner. Jamie Dornan got a lot of mockery for Wild Mountain Thyme because his Irish accent in it was awful (he's a Nordie and it's set in, I think Mayo, so a couple hundred miles and about 15 accents away)

Back in high school I was a big fan of the group Asia, particularly John Wetton's vocals and bass. I recently came across this video from just a couple of years before he died, belting out one of their hits backed by a rock orchestra, and there's just so much going on behind him.
