They even said, "You need to tell us you're not rigging this trial right now or we're going to the court of appeals and get them to make you do your job properly and look over your shoulder the entire time we're doing this trial." Cannon is either beholden to or terrified of Trump. She thinks ruling against a dismissal now (as opposed to just tanking things at a suitably later date for any number of reasons) will give her enough cover in the meantime to avoid having the case turned over to someone else. At this point, I’m just waiting for the evidence to drop that her court was in coordination with the Trump campaign. Like, she seems pretty stupid on her own, but her handling of all this so far reeks of Trump’s equally stupid lawyers feeding her suggestions.
