That was my least favorite part of the movie because it really doesn't add anything, and when the twist is revealed the movie makes sure to show you those scenes again to make sure you got it. Which was unnecessary.

The fact that it is a musical is a novel premise compared to the standard MCU formula, so I'm intrigued. Then again I thought the same thing about the haunted house setting for New Mutants.

The Captain America 4 footage they showed yesterday had President Ross talking about "reforming the Avengers" and Sam not wanting to join. Some people are theorizing that the Thunderbolts will become the Dark Avengers.

They could make it like a U.S. Agent/Captain America parallel that they sort of did in Falcon and The Winter Soldier where the "official" Avengers aren't necessary explicitly evil, but are working as an amoral covert team for the man. None of the other major adaptations have been 1:1 translations, so it is possible that a Dark Avengers could be similarly "inspired" by the comic instead of adapting it. Could also just be nerds on the internet extrapolating too much.

Could be that the movies will actually start to have a little bit of connecting story once more. Avengers get "reformed" and replaced by the Thunderbolts, many of whom quit and the remnants become the Dark Avengers while Sam and Bucky create a spin on the New Avengers so you get the conflicting Avengers teams.

That's kind of a waste of the central conceit though. Dark Avengers is a pretty fun and neat idea that warrants a more faithful translation.
