It really says a lot that I agreed with Tucker Carlson, Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Greene on FISA reauthorization and not your average spook-worshiping succdem. The arrogance of the deep state coming right out and saying that obtaining warrants to spy on average Americans was "tying their hands" was breathtaking in its brazenness.

I posted in the last succ thread sometimes asking questions and have mostly lurked since but I have become pretty succpilled. I have gone from "vote Joe even if he sucks because trump sucks more" in 2020 to utterly disillusioned.

I'm not voting for Biden. Does that make it more likely for Trump to win? Kind of a "them" problem. Like, sorry you couldn't get a candidate that isn't actively contributing to a genocide

Anyway that's just a little thank you to the thread, gently caress Joe Biden, I heard that dude threw a party after Roe was overturned

I've never voted for Biden in my life, and very much dislike him because he is a dude who threw a party (catered by the pedophile ice cream) when Roe was overturned, but I was pretty apathetic to people voting for him in 2020's general because I understand the (rational) fear of Trump that some people have.

That said, even if the general election vote makes no functional difference for the majority of Americans, in 2024 I'm incensed that anyone would throw their meaningless vote at him. He loves genocide and pedophile ice cream socials for celebrating the demise of Roe.

Clearly they exist without modifying the language. If they are, by definition, non binary, then they’re actually defined most clearly by the binary continuing to exist.

I drove further north than I normally go, and I came upon a couple of Trump shrines.

It still amazes me that Trump, this far New York City faker, can somehow command the devotion of these real in the woods rednecks.

Frontiers of Empire: Max Sering, Inner Colonization, and the German East, 1871–1945

How did the homesteads and reservations of the Prairies of Western North America influence German colonization, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Eastern Europe? Max Sering, a world-famous agrarian settlement expert, stood on the Great Plains in 1883 and saw Germany's future in Eastern Europe: a grand scheme of frontier settlement. Sering was a key figure in the evolution of Germany's relationship with its eastern frontier, as well as in the overall transformation of the German Right from the Bismarckian 1880s to the Hitlerian 1930s. 'Inner colonization' was the settlement of farmers in threatened borderland areas within the nation's boundaries. Focusing on this phenomenon, Frontiers of Empire complicates the standard thesis of separation between the colonizing country and the colonized space, and blurs the typical boundaries between colonizer and colonized subjects.

I just read a pretty dire article about the Masaai people who have coexistence with the Serengeti for hundreds of years and whose grazing practices is partly responsible for the large amount of fauna found there, being pushed out due to UAE royal family members wanting a private shooting range with real animals in it and "conservation" organizations wanting to cleanse the area to increase safari bucks and also use it for carbon credits. And guess what caught my eye

quote:

One of the country’s main conservation partners, UNESCO, had been pressing Tanzanian authorities for years to implement what it called “stringent policies to control population growth” in Ngorongoro, although UNESCO also says it has never supported the displacement of people. A German conservation group called the Frankfurt Zoological Society, a major partner in managing Serengeti National Park, has expressed concern that traditional Maasai practices are becoming less tenable because of population growth. “There is a risk of overuse and overgrazing that should be addressed,” Dennis Rentsch, the deputy director of the society’s Africa department, told me. “I don’t want to vilify the Maasai. They are not enemies of conservation. But the challenge is when you reach a tipping point.”

Nothing changes.
