PSL is probably the closest thing to functional and they're still a loving mess - run like a cult and I'm not aware of a local that's actually done anything (except sexually assault people, of course) outside of CA. You're in bad, bad loving shape when jokers like SAlt and rando anarchists have more to their name in the PNW and northeast The PSL leadership structure makes it so nearly everyone fucks off after two years, but the membership of the others are all basically left liberals

lol I do like the same arguments being deployed against RCs turned against PSL. The answer is obvious, PSL still holds the keys to socialism, Marx still said "on this rock I will build the workers' paradise", and if individual members, or even the organization as a whole, fail at times, it in no way undermines the belief. Systemic abuse is awful. The abuses PSL exists to fight are infinitely worse, and so just like PSL must take the fight to the external foe, obviously internally we should be quick to punish people who stray. That doesn't take away from the mission, it should only strengthen your resolve, because you can see what happens when the World corrupts PSL, and so that just adds urgency to the project of PSL to remake the world.

I don't support the actions you describe to be clear, precisely because they weaken the movement. And yet, I've seen enough revolutionary orgs, both successful and not to know that there will never be an org capable of challenging power which does not experience scandal, often handling it poorly or covering it up. None will ever meet your moral standard, and if you think they do, it's because they either haven't been around long enough, or you just haven't discovered it yet. Not Hamas, not the ANC, not the Cuban Communists, not Vietnam, not the PSL and not "Firebrand". That's not an excuse. It's just the reality. And, I say this with all sincerity, comrade, you need to make your peace with that fact. You can move from org to org, party to party, trying to find that morally purity, but while you do the real depraved assholes, our mutual enemies continue to rack up the body count. And it dwarfs every single one of the above parties and orgs. Absolute orders of magnitude. The real moral standard is how successful you are at challenging that, and that's the standard I apply. When Firebrand reaches that level, and maybe it will, I will support them.

Rape coverups are a symptom of lack of democratic control and transparency (and yes, the analysis that insular and exclusionary organizing has splintered the left is poignant, thanks) which allows both infiltration and subversion without giving the working masses a way to respond. It's also an obvious fact that workers not confronting specialized oppression in their own organizations has kept the left from uniting for a century and a half. It's never the case that this is due to the oppressed objecting to their oppression- it is *always* the fault of the oppressors and their apologists.
