Yeah, but you're not going to find a 30 year old magazine on the shelf of a corner shop. Anything that doesn't get sold by the time the new edition comes out is pulled, because of how the contracts work.

hey, my ex partner recently scattered glitter all over my apartment, im not talking a cup or two, they’ve completely covered the entire apartment including bedding, work clothes, even the inside of the oven, microwave and air conditioning units. 2 cleaning companies have refused to clean and 1 has offered an extortionate amount(tbh i would not want to clean this either). im currently living on a friends couch and he told me to take legal action since I literally cannot live in my own home. I don’t know if this kind of dispute would even hold in court “they covered my stuff in glitter” doesn’t seem court worthy to me? im a bit stuck and genuinely considering ending my lease and finding a new propery over it. is this something that would hold in a court? what would be my best option here?

If it's thousands of dollars to fix then it's probably court worthy even if it somehow seems silly because it's glitter.

If OP can't clean it and tries to just move out they're absolutely going to get sued by their landlord.

AITA for telling my English teacher to mind her own business?

quote:

I (17m) have always been fascinated by weather and I want to become a meteorologist some day. I often discuss my interests in weather and nature with my friends at lunch. For some reason this seems to bother my English teacher because right after Christmas she told me that I'm not allowed to discuss anything weather related at school anymore. I was upset about it but whatever.

Anyway, in science class, we have to write a research paper on a topic of our choosing and I decided to do a research paper on the 2021 Mayfield, Kentucky tornado. I asked my science teacher and he approved the topic. What I didn't know was that my science teacher asked the English teacher to help proofread everyone's papers.

So last Monday she called me out in English class and demanded to know why I broke her rules about discussing weather related topics? She told me she saw the paper I wrote. I told her it was an assignment for another teacher in another class and she said she didn't care and that I had to serve detention for breaking her rules. I asked her why she even cared and she yelled at me not to argue with her. I told her maybe she needs to mind her own business. I ended up getting detention for the rest of the week and a Saturday detention. The principal told me I have to write an essay about why what I said was wrong and that I have to apologize to the teacher.

I don't think I did anything wrong. She gave me detention because she didn't like the subject of a science paper I did for another teacher. To me, that's literally none of her business and she's overstepping her bounds. My parents told me I shouldn't have told her to mind her own business. I was frustrated. I've had issues with her all year. I've never had issues like this with any other teacher. AITA here?

Maybe the English teacher is like "weather is not real, it's called 'climate change':smugdog:"

I would have told my parents, the principal, the guidance counselor etc. the instant a teacher told me I was completely banned from talking about the weather of all things. Glad the kid finally grew a spine. They should write the essay all about how what they said was wrong, as it was clearly said at the wrong instance of harassment, and only give an "i'm sorry the weather upsets you enough to harass children" apology.

Hell, make sure everyone knows that the crazy english teacher won't let you say if it's hot or cold outside.

Not sure where you read this story where someone makes someone’s home unlivable and ruins their work clothes and how you got from that it sounds like OP must be cheating. If anything people who cheat tend to be the most vindictive about being cheated on or broken up with in my experience, not the other partner.

Very possible but I could also see it just being a power trip where the teacher decided the student talks about weather stuff too much for their own good and decided to "help" by instituting this absurd rule and then flipped out when the student didn't obey it.

If the principal is on the teacher's side I don't think there's anything OP can really do but they should know that they are definitely NTA.

I don't know about their jurisdiction but based on how expensive it seems it will be to fix it I could easily see it enough damage to be a crime (if they can get the police to do their job).

Good. Even if they don't end up prosecuting him, at least the police will hopefully scare the ex boyfriend into paying to have it cleaned up so OP doesn't need to sue him to recover the cost.

Butter Activities

It seems like both OP and the boyfriend+his shithead crew haven’t fully grasped how much damage is done and how staggered the cleanup is going to be, if they glittered bombed the inside of appliances and all her clothes and furniture in every room this is like well into five figures of damage.
