That's more saying the Spurs don't want to trade for Young at the Hawks' current asking price. And they very well shouldn't given how many of Atlanta's upcoming picks they control.

When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
I do wonder if Atlanta is just constantly mishandling using the media to drive up the value of their players or if their beat guys just major fibbers.

Thinking out loud here, would you rather have Grayson at that 4/70 deal or Payton Prichard at the 4/30 he signed last offseason? I feel like we saw some things this year out of PP and that deal is going to look like a steal moving forward.

Is Payton Prichard a starter, because that's why Grayson is getting his money.

He's also shooting a noticeable worse percentage at 3, and he's much shorter than Grayson.

McClung was the GLeague MVP, averaging 25 per game. Still can’t get a call up.

Speaking of the Pistons, will Killian Hayes ever get another look? He was so bad for so long, I wonder if he’ll just have to move to Europe and play there.

Not gonna lie, I think the people saying Wemby should win DPOY are taking crazy pills. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I think you need to play at least a dozen or so games that matter to be considered for any of the awards, let alone win. I have to wonder how many teams rested their best players against the spurs this year.

On the previous episode of Greatest of All Talk, the hosts debated what players they wouldn't trade straight up for Wemby and the only one they both agreed on was Jokic.

Teams are more likely to rest against good opponents now, especially good defenses, a win is a win and it's better to use your guys in situations where they won't get beat up. NBA is too good now, any team can challenge you if you sit your best guys. Wembys strength of schedule should be fine.

His team was 22nd in defensive rating though. His block and steal numbers were great and he can do damage but he still has a lot of growth available on a lot of the little things that make your teams defense better.

Gobert should win running away, but Wemby has as good a case as anyone for second. With him on the floor playing 5 the Spurs have been a legit excellent defence, with him off they have suuuuuuucked. Nobody else in the league has had an impact as big as him this year. The only reason he's not a lock at 2 for me is that those first eight weeks when they were playing him at forward still have to count, even if it's not his fault.

His individual DRTG was 105.8 with (points at Spurs roster) while Gobert’s was 104.4 with a bunch of other guys that can actually play defense. I think the wins thing is valid but it’s not as laughable as it’s being made out to be here (IMO).

Individual DRTG is not a great measurement of defensive impact. Vassal is a legit good defender and Sochan is inconsistent but not bad. You're not getting a top-5 defense out of that team but I do think there are other players who would have pulled their defense higher than the Bulls.

I think Wemby will get there but I don't think he he's the player that had the biggest positive impact on a team's defense.

You don't want him dominating the ball and throwing up 20 shots a game, which is what got him the G League MVP. He's not good enough to be a feature guy in the NBA and doesn't have the skillset to be a supporting guy.

The bigs (and wings!) in the GLeague are largely bad so it is easier for guards to shine when their game would fail in the NBA with the much better wings and bigs.

Yeah it's why Isaiah Thomas can make his way back into the league every year by dominating the G-league and then working his way back in February when teams need a guard.

I get the first part, I'm just shocked he has useful skills without dominating the ball that much. Makes sense though.

Ah, thank you. That really makes a lot of sense.

I have no idea how to rate the G-League as a league. It is weird because unlike most leagues, winning isn't necessarily the goal for most teams. I think the G-League is probably better than the CBA. I guessing maybe the NBL has passed the GLeague in quality but may be way off as I've only seen 1 NBL game and a handful of highlights.

The GLeague is better than the NBL imo, but I think high level European teams are better than the GLeague. It might depend on the rules they are playing by.

The GLeague is competitive, but there is very little roster continuity. There is also less rim protection than some other leagues because the bigs are typically in the NBA.
