time for Tyler herro to fulfill his destiny and get dominated by Ayo Dosunmu to the tune of 15 points on 6 of 27 shooting

man i love dosunmu but i expect that to be a fully natural 6-27

i was out earlier so kinda put off letting stuff register, but this was such an incredibly embarassing loss. if philly plays like that against NYK they are going to get swept. there are a lot of unserious teams in the east, but the heat might be the most unserious of the group

e: also dosunmu owns, i am very glad the bulls stuck with him

Everyone in know says they will trade Trae in the summer.

But then they kept asking for two firsts for Collins until they had to dump him, so god knows what they'd want for Trae.

not to dive into that particular discussion (tho i think the following call set the tone for the entire first half) but PHI was always gonna get this sort of national media coverage until NYK. embiid isn't doing anything wrong if the calls aren't being made, and beyond that i'm sure he'll take being a villain if it gets him past the second round

Trae Young to San Antonio for ATL to get some of their picks back and for SA get someone who can pass and dribble for Wemby's development makes too much sense.

And if anyone can turn around Trae Young it's gotta be pop right?

And the Spurs know it.

They're gonna wait for Atlanta to lower their initial asking price for Young before seriously considering any trades. They don't mind letting the Hawks roast over the coals for a while because those picks are gonna retain value.

E: looking at some other teams, the Jazz/Pelicans/Nets may have the combination of assets/picks to trade with Atlanta as well.

Trae is an underrated distributor so I definitely still think there are a lot of teams he has value to, Spurs being one of those teams. But I dunno, they also probably have to think, especially knowing Atlanta's history, that Trae will be available the year after next too and that being bad one more season to collect one more good young player (possibly Flagg) who's fully on Wemby's timeline is appealing.

But I dunno I could see the Pelicans doing an Ingram swap if they could get Atlanta to bring the draft pick price down a little bit. Although then again the Pelicans are pick rich.

Getting back to the gambling thing. Just reading that athletic article about how the league works with these gambling places to monitor odd bets.

“Maintaining the integrity of our game is paramount and has been since long before sports betting was legalized across the United States,” an NBA spokesperson said. “We have a multi-faceted compliance and monitoring program, which includes comprehensive training on the NBA’s sports-betting rules for all players, team and league personnel, in-house and third-party monitoring capabilities, and a suite of cooperation and information-sharing provisions included in all of our commercial partnerships in this area.”

Whatever. "FanDuel also saw out-of-the-ordinary activity on Porter’s under bets those two nights, an industry source with knowledge of the bets told The Athletic. The company reported it to U.S. Integrity, a company that monitors sports wagering for suspicious activity."

US Integrity sounds like the evil corporation in a Paul Verhoven movie, but "U.S. Integrity works with sports leagues, licensed sportsbooks and regulators, and provides an alert system for sports betting. It uses a proprietary algorithm that it has built to spot anomalous bets and larger-than-usual line movement."

OK no specifics. Fine. So the gambling sites provide data to US Integrity, which alerts everyone if there's suspicious betting. My question is this: the gambling sites have a strong incentive to stop Porter-type betting, right? I don't know anything about gambling, but it feels like they can't gain anything by not reporting "suspicious" betting—or is there a scenario where gambling sites would have something to gain by looking the other way?

The Pels don’t have that many extra picks left. Just one or two.

He is definitely below the level that any defense can withstand. There are blips here and there where he seems to be getting better but there is some physical limitations because he is so slight.

Gambling companies don’t want to pay out more than they take in. These kind of bet fixes gently caress with their methodology of ensuring that happens.

Yeah, the bigger gambling operators force their employees to do "responsible gaming" and "fraud prevention" trainings like once a quarter, so they know how to spot patterns of (blatant) addiction, betting irregularities, etc. It's taken very seriously. They're playing the long game; they know that they can profit off millions of marks and rubes for years to come if they can at least appear to keep their hands clean.

Speaking of short point guards, I wonder if Jose will get a serious look at starting next season. I don’t think he can play his usual style if he gets those kinds of minutes, but he has always paired well with Zion. Trey Murphy, too.

I would be very interested in seeing how a Jose, Herb, Trey, Zion, KAT (or other center they can get with Ingram + picks) lineup would do. With CJ also being traded or coming off the bench as sixth man.
