Again quibbling over where the money comes from exactly doesn't matter.

All that matters is that its not his and was given to him by others to spend as he pleases. And he is not at all shy about saying donations will be used to protect him from """lawfare""".

You think Trump actually gives a poo poo, or has any morals, how exactly he grifts the R's or his base into throwing money at him? Or will control himself to only morally correct payments of his fines?

Necheles is Trump's lawyer, doing cross examination.

I think the point of calling her by the prosecution was to establish Trump's connection to Stormy Daniels and Karen Mcdogual. Trump's assistant had their contact information and they were seen around Trump tower.

That would require Trump to not do crime, he seems incapable. Genuinely, the dozy fucker does not seem able at all.

He also has the entire evening today to spend with her.

I buy feet pics🍆

But that literally begs the question. The argument is that he's paid substantial amounts of money; you're saying "it's not his," as though that absolves you the burden of proving it. Further, if it is in fact his money, then that is the consequence you're saying is not coming.

This doesn't even grapple with the fact that there's an ever decreasing pool of money to draw from, his campaign is running on fumes, the RNC is broke, down ticket candidates are very nervous about fund raising, etc. etc.

The de facto reality, which is the only thing that matters here, is whether the money comes from old lady donors, billionaire donors, stock scams etc etc etc does not matter one bit. One way or another he is going to be made whole, more than made whole most likely if the stock price alone stays near where its at, and will have effectively suffered nothing for his crimes.

Unfortunately his fundraising is actually doing OK so far. Not great, worse than Biden so far, but not terrible either. We still have a chance his money siphoning could gently caress some R down ballot races up and make them lose some seats....but that is it so far. A chance. I can only hope it'll cost them a Senate seat or 2 but even that is a wild eyed optimistic best case as far as I can tell at this point.

Meanwhile the billionaires are apparently starting to open their wallets for him.

The ugly reality is that even if he misses his donation peak of his previous election run he'll still likely bring in hundreds of millions of dollars. He shouldn't be getting 1 drat dollar though.

i recently encountered a couple of otherwise educated people who were shocked when i said trump was running again this year, if you want some perspective on how removed from politics americans can be

i think this is partially why their propaganda networks are so effective. they are so loving loud and repetitive in concert with each other, it penetrates people who are otherwise completely ignoring politics

He is siphoning off massive amounts of money, abortion is killing down ballots. It's dangerous for Trump, if you are already in the booth for a down ballot candidate you are probably more likely to hold your nose and vote for Trump, likely even a straight ticket even if you don't like Trump.

If Democrats down ballot are way out messaging Republicans, which they are likely to do, you might not even be inclined to vote at all because your down ballot candidates have said some like weird anti-abortion stuff and voting for Trump was always a gross option for you, but you really didn't like Hillary.

There seems to be an intersection between what consequences TRump will face versus what we all would like to see.

The fact is that we are dealing with one of, if not the, highest-profile defendant in US history, who has Godzilla’d his way into uniquely knotty legal issues that involve several levels of judicial branches ascwell as all branches of government.

Comparing this defendant’s treatment to what would happen to anyone not rich (perceived or otherwise) and white, let alone the former (& current candidate for) chief executive is basically whining into the void.

We get it.

But, as has been pointed out repeatedly, and nearly exhaustively, is that - privileged or no- this defendant presents a number of thorny legal, social, and political issues that require all court officers involved to exercise great care in navigating these matters.

Anyone that believed that these matters would disqualify or derail this monsters was living in a fantasy land. It is up to us to eliminate this threat to democracy, at the ballot box.

Might he implode before that? One can only hope. But it is your vote that will surely end it.

Legal matters take time. The process is slow; it does not lend itself to the speed of posting/blogging.

So maybe take a break for a few days, or weeks. Go support a campaign. Donate. Protest.

And be grateful every day that you are not standing in this unhappy idiot’s shoes. These legal tests are not going away.

As for the money: this rear end in a top hat burned through whatever he inherited decades ago; he is a parasite, living on other people’s money, and that hundreds of millions of dollars is going to lawyers and the legal systems of various states galls him to no end, but he is too simple to care.
