I guess I was being extremely naive into thinking SCOTUS would do the right thing, but I guess I was wrong. If they do decide that Trump is immune to everything, and is pretty much a god, what happens next? Do you think the supreme court will just be treated as irrelevant?

Trump on the other hand was incredibly obnoxious to the point where even the CNN guys were like "this is a low point in American politics". Biden's not gonna get steamrolled by him, he hates his loving guts and is probably jonesing for the chance to tell him to shut up again on live television. if a debate happens the main takeway will be "can you really stand 4 more years of this guy"

I think a lot of the poo poo Kavanaugh was doing was hypotheticals, "what should the POTUS be able to get away with", he didn't seem to be buying that Trump's specific crimes should be covered by immunity

They are never going to give him total immunity. The only Justice even entertaining that idea was Alito. Likely they will either rule against him or kick it down to a lower court to more narrowly define which acts do or do not merit immunity.
