Legendary horror artist makes a manga about his daily life with his pet cats. Ancient Roman architect who has hit a creative block time travels to modern Japan and uses what he learns from the public bathing culture to revolutionize his designs for the bath houses of Rome. Animation legend Hayao Miyazaki tells the story of anthropomorphic pigs crewing a German Tiger tank on the Eastern Front of WW2. Music school graduate sees a sad girl standing barefoot in the snow. Somehow this leads to him becoming a world-class competitive PC overclocker.

In second grade a classmate, John Anderson, brought in some of his older brother’s “cool” comics. They were William F Gaines pre-code horror pieces, probably Creepy or Eerie. I remember the place, time and the classmate because holy poo poo they were full of anatomically accurate rotted, animated corpses and gore as graphic as anything I have ever seen ever, in my 61-years and they nearly made me physically ill right then & there. How I didn’t hurl remains a mystery.

And here I just got through the second arc of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, which so far has been virtually nothing but lurid, grody, and ridiculous violence that I almost certainly would have eaten up in 6th or 7th grade.

So Spy x Family volume 11 dropped this week and while I always get a kick out of the gags Endo puts at the end of the book, I really got a kick out of this one (read right to left): For reference, the cover of each volume of Spy x Family features a member of the cast sitting in some sort of mid-century modern style chair, and these two are fairly minor characters.
