And now that Western armor is getting owned they're just recycling the stuff about the T-72. Oh we shouldn't have sent Ukraine the Monkey model of the M1, how long till thwy just start parroting that we didn't send them the AT rounds meant for Russian tanks The thing about Iraq is most engagements were with T55 variants anyway. Maybe the US should send Ukraine some m48's Edit: Greece still uses 390 of those! Send them now! Regarde Aduck has issued a correction as of 09:03 on May 8, 2024 |

I have seen the listed weight for a standard M1A1 as 57.2 metric tons, so in all likelihood, it is just what they went with for a plaque aimed at the public. Nevertheless, an US Army Abrams is going to be more heavily armored depending on the version, but honestly, it probably isn't going to be enough to make a serious difference in overall production against the type of munitions being used against them (especially from the top or the sides) at the cost of eroding the power/weight ratio and reliability further. I think the Russians have the right idea, cage armor or just a shell is going to mitigate the damage more effectively than simply adding more armor on the tanks. It isn't going to be useful in all cases but there is certainly a point where weight becomes an issue and you don't want your tank to be 68-70+ metric tons. BearsBearsBears posted:A lot of Ukrainian neonazis are actually Russian, both in ethnicity and nationality. Putin spent a lot of effort clearing Moscow of neonazis and a lot of them went to Ukraine to fester. I don't know if they became Banderites while there. I recently spoke to a Russian man who lives near Irkutsk, iirc. He said it's a nice place to visit. We spoke a bit and he told me a few interesting things: 1) It wouldn't really be safe for me and my family to visit there, because we would encounter severe racism. 2) The neonazi gangs and graffiti declined severely since 2022. As far as he could tell they all joined Wagner/Russia or Ukraine and died there. I don't know if Putin actually did anything intentionally to clear his country of Nazis, but the invasion definitely did have this effect.

It was honestly changing even before the war after the Russian government took an hard stance against Neo-Nazism including banning Swastikas and essentially anti-government Nazis joined the Ukrainians while the pro-government ones usually had to tone down their message and logos and join the fight in the Donbass or just give it up entirely. The war just made this far more stark.

https://responsiblestatecraft.org/zelensky-assassination-plot/ What The Foiled Zelensky Assassination Plot Really Means quote:Ukraine’s security services said on Tuesday that they foiled a plot to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This article brings up a fair point. Even taking Zelensky's claim about the supposed plot at face value does not portray a flattering picture of the current state of the Ukrainian government. If true Russia was able to flip two colonels to help them assassinate Zelensky.

I dont know why Russia would assassinate Zelensky tbh. Zelensky seems intent on feeding every last Ukrainian willing to take up arms for their country directly into the Russian woodchipper with a mandate to defend every last foot of soil instead of strategic retreats to preserve forces for more critical defenses. If Russia's long term goal is to pacify Ukraine then Zelensky is the perfect opponent
