Also, I've been wanting to start using mutations so have been camp hopping looking for people selling serums. Haven't found any.

Just drink dirty water and get all the mutations for free, you can clean them out any time later when you find serums for sale somewhere and optimize or whatever

I just realized you can't get PA mod plans from scrapping PA parts.

I've wasted so much time hauling them around.

So how would that work - I radaway any I don't want, then equip starched genes? Or just accept some that I might not want?

Stupid newbie question again, how does one get "starched genes"? Is it a card unlock at some level, mission-given card or...?

You just select it when you level up. It's a luck card.

Basically and both. The radaway gamble is time-consuming, sticking with the ones you don't want can be annoying, so aim for a compromise that makes for a fun game. Pick up the perk that mitigates bad effects too, it's pretty vital.

Thank you!

The Fallout fan wiki works for most of the stuff, but this game has had long enough shelf time that most of the stuff on the Internet seems to be outdated, unhelpful or does not work at all.

I swear I'll get good at this game and stop asking stupid questions at some point.

tbh just get all the mutations and quit worrying about trying to optimize until you have a reliable source of serums (or just never)

I was pretty lucky gambling for mutations, but grabbing all of them isn't a bad ide either, no. If you're unlucky, I'd go for that.

I’d do them if I was allowed to have the Union power armor but since it seems like that’s been broken for drat near a year in various ways and you literally can’t even buy the plans right now I’m not holding my breath.

Also you get like, an average of 12-15 stamps per run so it’s ridiculously grindy.

Yeah, having done like 10 expeditions in the last 3 days...they suck. They're also long and prone to crashing. Find 3/5 of the thing you need to destroy, but get disconnected before finding the others? Too bad, start over.

I've been running with all the mutations for a while now and it's really not that bad! It's just annoying healing radiation damage without the chance of clearing useful mutations. Although I guess I'm now realizing running around with almost no HP is a viable strategy with the proper armor anyway.

Go to AC and do "The Most Sensational Game". If you get lucky with the objectives you're doing the whole thing in 10 minutes, tops.

If you get the Escorte objective it takes a bit longer because Bethesda sucks at navmeshing but it's still faster then any of the other Expos.

You get modules, a ton of XP, a free plan once a week, lots of ammo, sometimes some scrip and you always get several leggos for the scrip machine.

I do tax evasion and it takes like 10-15 minutes. Not sure if it is the fastest but it’s the easiest for me. I branched out to union dues and it took me like an hour because I couldn’t find the side objectives.

I haven't done any of the Atlantic City ones yet. Good to hear they aren't as long. The Pitt ones are awful. Got my stamps I needed and killed the 100 trogs with an auto axe. Never going back!

Edit - Also, today's Daily Ops was especially nasty. Cryo alien Decryption. Died twice in like 2 minutes and just gave up. Not worth the hassle. But I did finally get an Ultracite Jetpack plan from a vendor. Just need a few more Cobalt Flux and I can make it.

In general, I'm starting to feel anything with aliens is just a drag. Quick, annoying, high rate of fire in a high latency environment. The drones are horrible, it's all just a bit poo poo.

I got the peepers skin working, guess I just had to log out/log in or something. Much better without a static poof of frost dangling in front of me all the time. Also up to Level 35 and the commando perks are definitely starting to yield results. I'm still missing a lot of cards still but the SMGs I have are doing serious work all the sudden.

I mean aside from that specific power armor they seem really rewarding, I did both parts of Pitt a few times with my flamer/PA character and it felt like a giant amount of 2/3-star legendary stuff, xp and ammo for the time, plus it awards legendary modules directly, it seemed pretty great to me. Made public expedition teams for all my trips and nobody joined

Eviction notice, along with Test your Metal, are two of my favorite events. Just an epic feel to both of them with all the action and the music playing.

Moonshine Jamboree and Safe and Sound are two of my other favorites. MJ had me cracking up the first time, seeing all those gulpers and ghouls trying to destroy stills to the tune of banjo music all while a Mr. Handy robot was complaining in the background.

You had to be there.

My buddies and I are messing around with fo76 and having a good time with it. But it's big, and it takes time to get familiar with everything.

One of us has limited game time, so what are the best and most fun ways for him to level up when he has time to play? We've tried some events, and they're really hit and miss. I think he's around lvl 15 now. Pushing him towards quests, but the starter stuff is very fetchy at times and buddy wants to shoot stuff.

Sir, we have located the Bioweapon.
College Slice
Started fallout 4 on ps5, and man, I am overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content. It seems I am almost constantly collecting junk and animal bits, taking them to my base at the gas station, crafting, going back out there, coming back, and so on. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I easily get distracted by busywork and was wondering how much of that is really necessary. Distress signals, radio signals, etc, are all taking a lot of time.

I guess I'm asking, is there a way to tell which quests are the 'main' story quests, and which ones are side quests? Don't get me wrong, I do want to chill and explore the lands, but I do want to progress in reasonable time. Do I really need to focus that much time on crafting, building settlements, and so on - or do weapons and skills organically come to you as you play the quests.

Are settlements important? Do I need to grow, maintain, babysit them? Or can I ignore that part.

Also, I am collecting power armour sets, but not really using them - probably because I don't want to bother with keeping batteries and repairing them. Are they really important at all?

The main quest is the one to find your son. Anything else is a side quest. This is a Bethesda game; the side quests are the content imo

If you do a lot of equipment modding or settlement building you're going to want all the junk you collect. Otherwise you won't need as much.

You can ignore power armor if you want. You won't ever need it to finish the game or anything. They're just fun to use.

Like, half of the Dailies don't auto trigger and will only show up as available when you get close to the quest giver location so if you haven't tried already FT to the Whitespring Refuge and see if it becomes available once you get close to Esme.

I just did a Daily Op and it was against aliens with freeze mutation. The Invaders could double tap me, I could take maybe 3 or 4 shots from the regular aliens. I died about 10 times before I quit. I could have managed it eventually but the Op seemed to go on and on.

Are they all like that? This was in regular Excavator PA.
