Even the slow vaults get you value a lot of the time, because the hit window on a slow vault is HUGE and it animation lockis survivors for a long, long time. On most of the safe pallets in the game, slow vaults only work if the killer isn't expecting it - Which you will be if Dissolution is active. Yeah playing around it is realtively easy but the thing is that nobody's ever run it ever outside of Dredge Adept so nobody plays around it well. It's like Hag. All anyone knew for her counterplay was "laser beam on the triangles" and now that that's gone and nobody plays her, nobody knows how the gently caress to deal with her.

Maybe you're lonely, poor, disenfranchised, your wife left you, your family died, the government failed you... It's been shown time and time again that the alt-right deliberately targets people in bad circumstances and works to radicalize them by providing a fake target to blame real problems on. I've known folks who were good, normal people before they went TERF. Everyone's witnessed the way a normal human being can be turned inside out by these things. And for a lot of people it seems like they get so far in that they can see no other way out but down even if they regret it. A lot of them don't believe this poo poo, it's just lies they have to swallow to keep the community they've found. But then there's some people who are so deeply, joyfully, viscerally hateful, who have gone full on the dehumanization of others, that I can't even wish them a "hope you get help and deradicalize". I'm just not sure there's any coming back from looking at a woman who died a painful, horrible death while living her truth, seeing the people saying how kind and compassionate she was to others like her, and choosing to spit on her grave. I just feel like maybe at that point if a lightning bolt hits you or a sinkhole opens up underneath you, you shouldn't be surprised. Sorry I know I'm venting and being a downer but man I'm still just loving pissed off. I hope BHVR does something to honor her. Scott made a video a week or so ago about how they're doomed either way on this because they just showed they could adjust the volume quickly. As always though I remind people that software development can be a giant pain in the rear end and just because they were able to change Huntress' sound easily doesn't mean it can be done on the survivor side. It probably can, but it's not a 1:1 comparison.

Fixing clear outliers in audio(Ace being super quiet, the guys who sound like dying, wheezing bears when injured, etc) is good. They can't and shouldn't shoot for perfect balance in all survivor characteristics for stealth or you'll have to ask silly questions like should all survivors be the exact same height or should we turn Claudette's skin white, Meg's hair brown, etc. It helps that as far as visual differences things are much more balanced, you have loads of options to correct and people are naturally encouraged to consider being stand-out to show off desired fashion sense or even as a strategy to attract killers to stronger loopers. I think it's probably physically impossible to completely equalize them, since the actual decibel loudness of the breaths is only a part of it. A raspy wheeze is going to sound out clearer than a deep grunt, so unless you just give everyone the same voice it won't really work. Counterstrike-ification is a deadly disease and getting things close enough is enough to avoid 600 matches of DBD_dust. Some people may "exploit" with certain characters but it just has to be that way if you want any variety at all.

Yeah, nobody is looking for identical soundwaves or anything. Just bring those outliers in so it isn't strictly superior to play certain survivors, from a competitive point of view. Otz going off really hard on the transphobic subhumans who were defacing Zoey's obituary was nice to see. I always knew Otz was a good person but I remember a few years ago he was very hesitant to appear "political" on issues like this so seeing him being willing to tell people to gently caress off is good.

So yeah, I definitely get why streamers want to steer clear of this because it's got to suck even more when that poo poo happens live and directly and constantly. We are want to pretend that we "got over" gamergate but it taught us a very important lesson: there's a subset of people online that exist only to harass targets, and the only safety you have is to not be the person they pick because platform's aren't going to do poo poo. Being popular enough to be known while not popular enough to be safe *and* vocal about something is a good way to get pictures of your house sent to you. So good for those who actually do it.

No politics" would be perfectly innocuous but it leads to some real loving rancid chats and I really appreciate that Otz is actively vocal about this stuff, because you wouldn't know it but you really have to be. You have to actively work to keep the place inclusive and weed this poo poo out early and often. Even if you wouldn't think that much effort needs to go into cultivating a space like "a dumb chat for watching a guy do dumb things in video games", the waters already have an easy contamination point with how normalized alt-right dogwhistle poo poo like pepes are on Twitch (which sounds stupid, of course, but that's because they purposely made it stupid and plausibly deniable, so you sound like a maniac talking about it). Like most online spaces, it's very much the nazi-at-the-bar anecdote.  The good news is that twitch as a platform has largely gotten more and more vocally leftist and there's a lot of really solid streams out there for pretty much any game and niche you could want that are inclusive and cool. I spend a lot of time on there just chilling with friends and it's nice to carve out these niche communities.

It has overall gotten more accessible to marginalized people.

The real Kwolok analogue is Stux. Correct takes delivered in the most frictionally annoying (for stux) or depressive/hopeless (for Kwolok) ways possible but it also shows who is too heated to get the message when they focus on the messengers and don't address the message which is typically correct. (especially with stux lmaooo) Kwolok is that much of a downer because they see poo poo for what they it is and call it out accordingly. People may not like or agree with how they say poo poo, and certainly don't understand their perspective when they're putting out so much friction, but they're usually right. Don't @ me, IYKYK.

Personally I don't mind because gently caress FOMO, and also last week's charm bundle was like 150 aurics for a set that included brass loving knuckles from some early David King rift. Didnt even know they were doing rift charm bundhles, that's neat. I've no issue with that at all. Anyway, I've had three games tonight, all of them Oni, starting to wonder if I'm cursed. Joke's on the second one though, I was doing Zarina FTP / Buckle up challenge and got him five times. I did not escape.
