watched streets of fire and feel like it would've been better if the lead was just a little less dumb; he isn't nearly charismatic enough to get away with sounding like he's reading off cue cards. however i am surprised i've never heard nowhere fast before because its such a good song

speaking of Dafoe my wife introduced me to To Live and Die in LA and the car chase was one of the best i've seen like Friedkin's work in Sorceror its extra impressive knowing they couldn't fake it back then the car barely maintaining control in that 2nd shot blew my mind https://i.imgur.com/gY3eVO1.mp4 same lead from Manhunter so we ended up having a Friedkin/Mann double bill Durf has issued a correction as of 21:21 on May 8, 2024 |

What you people got wrong is that it isn't about avoiding movies made by divorced people, it's about people embodying being divorced. You could never have gotten married or is actually still married and still direct divorced-ly. Exhibit 1: The Wickerman. A movie that ends with Nick Cage punching a series of women before being trapped and eaten by bees. Spoilers for the horrible movie The Wickerman.

MacheteZombie posted:Nah Cronenberg gets to do what he wants I think maybe the trick is you have to be weird as gently caress before hand if you're weird at the start you come out the other side fine if you're a straight shooter crowd pleaser like Spielberg/Lucas you end up with a "Temple of Doom" and I don't care how many people lie that it's their favorite one, it's basically unwatchable apart from the mine cart chase

Spergin Morlock posted:Mola Ram was the best Indiana Jones villain Hmm, no. Little nazi guy with his coat hanger was the best Indiana Jones villain My favorite thing about Raiders is that its completely unnecessary for Jones to be in the movie. His actions have no real effect on the final outcome. Its great and I love it. More movies need superfluous heroes.
