What's the problem with paying for the shipping? I'd only assume if you don't have Prime you have to pay for it. And same day delivery would be expensive I'd imagine.

I don't think it's the "paying for shipping" that's a problem so much as there was an option with free shipping with next day delivery - which is the option the majority of people shopping on Amazon intend to select - and it selected the Whole Foods delivered option instead by default. It also default selects subscription delivery on items where that's available as well. It's just a single click but it's a pain in the rear end because the price that shows on the results is never the single purchase, Amazon free shipping one you most likely actually want if the other (Whole Foods or subscription) option is available.

Ah ok. That happens to me a whole lot too but it's not a big inconvenience to me to click the one time purchase. I'm just used to their and every other company's bullshit to try to basically upsell (in a shittier way that someone will be pissed off if they don't notice and are paying monthly for vitamins or some poo poo). Just to be clear I am not, in fact, handing it to Amazon. I use them but I understand they are one of the worst companies in existence. I, like everyone else, gotta pick and choose what lovely companies to avoid.

I did my civilian service (Austria has mandatory military service for men, with a civilian option) in a kindergarten. During orientation the guy warned us not to let the children sit on our laps because someone might get the wrong idea. So not only did they make us do this job for a pittance, they also put us under general suspicion as pedophiles for doing the job they made us do.

I actually kind of blame that era of SA (I lurked for years) and other edgy internet culture for me dismissing back then the idea that I might be neurodivergent. Like I knew something was up but I didn’t relate to that sort of straw man extreme caricature of autism so I just decided to carry on believing I was a bit odd. In my mid 30s now with an ADD diagnosis and well on my way to the conclusion that I’m probably on the spectrum as well. Whoops.
