(I knew the layoff was coming months in advance so I made sure I was at the cap when it happened) B) We got something like 25 days a year, not counting having the stretch off Christmas/New Years off + a bunch of other holidays when schools were out and we would do stuff that would not end up using PTO. I just could not use it fast enough and I was busy enough at work that it did not make sense to take random Fridays off or whatever because then it would just push the work to other days. It got maxed it out during covid when there was nowhere to go, and then I was never able to use it enough after that, since even using 3 weeks or so would still leave it at the cap by the end of the year. CO has a similar policy. My employer is based in Boston and they don’t allow carrying over PTO into the next calendar year. It’s use it or lose it. The stated reason is to ensure people actually took vacation but lol come on, they just don’t want to carry the liability of hundreds of hours of time per person on the books. To be fair they’ve never been dicks about it, I can’t think of a time a PTO request ever got pushback. It does make December a poo poo show as the whole company scrambles to burn time which I’m pretty sure is not what HR was going for. But I’m exempt from that here and can roll it over It’s not quite as good as California. I think they are allowed to cap the total you can sit on at whatever you’d accrue in one year. But they definitely can’t delete your balance at the end of the year. Which always seemed like a bullshit loophole. It’s part of your compensation, why are they allowed to take it away?

Yeah, I get 19 days a year currently, allowed to roll up to 192 a year over (which goes up over time until I think it peaks at like 500 hours roll over after 25 years), plus 184 hours sick leave per year with unlimited roll over and unlimited accrual which gets paid out when I leave/retire.

Yeah, I'm at 4 weeks of vacation time a year and 2 weeks of sick time, so I'm usually bumping up against my 4 week cap of vacation time. I was supposed to go to Japan / HK / China this year, but life stuff has come up, so that's on indefinite hold. Gonna disappear for a week shortly and go goblin mode though.

I've never had a job that gave me more than 2 weeks a year, and I don't think I've taken a vacation longer than 5 consecutive days in well over a decade. Part of the reason I left my last two jobs was getting royally hosed over on PTO by changes made by the companies, including both utterly loving people over on sick time (The job I quit in February literally didn't have sick time, the department supervisor just deducted PTO for hourly people and they had no recourse). Someone give me a not terrible job tyvm

I'm well on my way with the sick time, but I've always been good about burning my vacation time even if it's just some fridays where I can have a "weekend" day with the kids in school. Sick payout for me caps at ~2200 hours after which it's forfeited (if everything goes to plan I should be retiring just before I hit that)

He had borderline coerced sex with a woman and then used campaign funds to pay her to keep quiet leading up to the election. The crime is in the hush money. Stormy Daniels isn’t “a whore” she’s a director and adult actress. Yeesh.

This particular trial is because he used campaign funds to pay off the porn star he paid to have sex with and also because campaign funds were used to kill negative stories about trumpworld that should have been made public to the voters but instead were covered up with the intention of deceiving the voting public in order to attain election. If a media outlet that Obama had done business dealings with knew that Obama was born in Kenya and that media outlet then covered it up before the election and that led to his winning the presidency, I'm sure the right wing would feel exactly the same way as they do right now about whether a trial was legitimate or not.

a sexual elk posted:He didn’t pay her to have sex, he paid her to shut up about it Yes this whole trial is that Trump cheated on his wife with a pornstar, and then he paid her hush money to not talk about it while he was running for president. The payment happened around the same time of the Access Hollywood tape where he bragged about groping women. He used campaign funds to do it, which is the absolute dumbest thing he could’ve done to try and cover it up.

Shame used to be a powerful tool against the powerful. Remember when Gary Hart had to drop out of the presidential race because he caught in an affair with Donna Rice on a boat called Monkey Business? is completely shameless, destroying that option. Guy will say the most insane poo poo and his followers will lap it up as gospel (except when "he's not being literal").

Washington just upped the vacation time cap for state workers from 240 hours to 280 hours starting in July. Any vacation time you have that's over 240/280 on your hiring anniversary date disappears but you get priority leave to use it (unless you donate it for shared leave) and most supervisors I know will approve your time that's situation. I was in a spot where I'd have to take 56 hours to be slightly under 240 by my August anniversary date even with my two weeks of approved time off coming up but now it's only 16. Still will probably take that extra week+ off in July though. I think my leave accrual goes up this year too to 14.3 hours or something like that. We can keep unlimitrd sick leave and I work with someone who has like 500 hours of it since they've been remote for forever and never bother to take sick time off since they work from home. That's psycho behavior to me.
