Yes. Between the recent eclipse and this rise in sunspot activity, the sun is clearly going woke. Good luck to all.

Also re: our own sun, I recommend reaching out to the moon for dream protection for anyone who has trouble with dreams as the result of sun activity. I often find it's very comforting to like, go for night walks (especially with my dog), or just generally think about the moon in times of trouble. It helps eliminates nightmares, or turn them into good dreams even.

A pic I took on tonight's walk. I know the image came out a little weird but I think that gives it character, lol

i do, and i also remember this article from 2018 that says 6 other solar observatories were shut down around the same time

It's interesting that every candidate is an M type dwarf. The next question we should be asking is "is there something unique about M dwarfs that make them the best candidate for Dyson spheres?" If so that would be telling. The other possibility is there is something about an M dwarf that can generate these signatures in certain situations which is probably the real answer. That question is what I would be focusing on though because it's highly unlikely to be a coincidence and either way they'll make an interesting new discovery.

D-Pad
Jun 28, 2006

Google tells me:

quote:

The lifespan of an M dwarf star depends on its mass, with lower mass stars living longer. More massive M dwarfs can live for more than 100 billion years, while less massive M dwarfs can live for trillions of years. For example, a star with a mass of 0.16 solar masses can live for around 2.5 trillion years, while a star with a mass of 0.10 solar masses can live for around 6 trillion years.
M dwarfs are the most common stars in the Milky Way, making up about 73% of its population. They are formed from T Tauri pre-main sequence stars and have a much lower luminosity than the Sun, at 0.04X. However, M dwarfs emit 80 to 500 times more harmful radiation than the Sun

For a Dyson sphere a long lived star would be what you would want and that seems to be much longer than our sun however they have a lower luminosity which would seem to point to less energy output but then it says they can emit much more harmful radiation which I assume could be harvested for energy as well? Also the much lower solar mass would probably make the engineering easier as the gravity wouldn't be as strong as other stars so your Dyson sphere would hold together easier.

m dwarfs can have habitable planets and are, as stated, by far the most common type of star. if you had 10 candidates you would expect 7 of them to be m dwarfs so 7 out of 7 isn't that unusual
