PHIZ KALIFA posted:Anyone experienced with Tascam repair? The cover broke off, while attempting to fish the bits out from inside the body this little clear bobbin fell off. I can't figure out where it goes. All the buttons still work without it. I've sent an e-mail to Tascam but this was purchased secondhand so I'm not expecting much. Only change I've noticed is it rattles a little when I shake it, so I've stopped shaking it. Late reply but that looks like a light guide for an LED. There’s probably a little hole somewhere that is still letting a bit of light out, but now it also lets dust inside the case. Probably no big deal.

I checked the recording light and screen backlight but didn't notice a spot for it, and those are the only two lights on the unit. I also talked with a technician who wasn't able to even identify what the part was or locate it in the schematic.

XPost from the Mac Hardware Thread: Compatibility question: I'm looking to get a room correction system (ARC Studio from IK Multimedia) and I'm worried that it's incompatible with my old Mac Pro. The requirements on IK's site say "Minimal: Apple M1 or Intel® Core i5 Processor" but this is a Mac Pro 5,1 with a pair of Xeon CPUs in it. That's right out, right? Are any of the Intel Core CPUs compatible with the Pro 5,1? Thanks. Are there any other room correction systems comparable to the ARC Studio (which everyone is raving about) that are compatible with older Macs? Cheers. EDIT: I'm learning that it might not just be a CPU issue but could be an OS issue; the ARC Studio says minimal OS 10.15 which I believe is Catalina? I've got High Sierra on my MP and I can't recall if that's the end of the line for my machine or if it's possible to upgrade to Catalina... somehow. Is that a thing? I bet the CPU is fine as even an older xeon could prob run circles around an i5 from a MacBook/mini from before m1 came but the OS will probably cause issues (not being able to get my 2011 mini past whichever version is what caused me to go with Reaper instead of Logic pro). I know someone who is running an '08 Mac pro and still getting along well with it for simple editing stuff Plenty of people upgrade their older things past the newest OS they support, you can too if you are willing to gamble with the instability of running an unsupported OS. I haven't done so cause I'm not very smart but there should be a lot of guides online

Lysandus posted:Not sure if this is the best thread but is there software to automatically make drums? Something that analyzes that the tracks you have (guitar, etc) and makes drums for them? I hate trying to make drums when I Logic has Drummer which has a listen mode which in theory can listen to a particular track and work from it but in practice its best not to because the results sound like poo poo. The thing is if you just want to jam to something quickly you could just use a stock loop. Ez drummer has midi libraries included.

I can't seem to find a straight answer to this by just googling, but is there a way in FL Studio to hide/disable/delete plugins that you haven't bought? I've lost count of the number of times I've done a drum sequence or bassline that sounds nice, gone to save, only to have the program go "hey dummy this is the demo version of this plugin, if you want this to still be there when you load up this save again you have to pay $70". I understand why they do it, because they want people to buy poo poo, but it's very annoying.

Not entirely sure I understand the question, but can you not just go options > manage plugins and then tick/untick the stars that turn plugins on/off? If you mean get FL Studio to identify demo plugins automatically and disable them then idk, probably not.

I want to get a shure sm58 for recording some stuff I can't do DI and was thinking of also using it on my PC for Discord/games/etc. if I just did an XLR to USB cable would it have enough volume? It would feel silly to get another audio interface just for that so if it's a bad idea I might just consider getting a USB mic that can do okay for recording music occasionally instead
