I just saw someone claim to be a Toad fan and make the mistake of thinking Toad and Captain Toad are the same character. This is incorrect. Toad is the name of their species, but Toad is also the name of the character you can play as in Super Mario 2 and Super Mario 3D World. Captain Toad is a different toad than Toad.
