Robots can do amazing things, like perform high-precision surgery or take close-up photos of a dwarf planet 7.5 billion kilometers away. This is why human beings are doing their best to make the absolute worst robot possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOJaDDO38kk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C3D0rcFXrY https://i.imgur.com/wTJcSmI.gifv Post cool/terrible robots.

Skip to 11:30 for the terrible robot (or don't) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qh4VNuW_1w A fabulously suave strut. If anybody skipped this please watch it now. I'm sad the powdered soup robot didn't make it though.

I suppose towel-folding robots may have come a long way in the last five years, but I find this video a sure-fire remedy to people's fears of google petman death robots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy5g33S0Gzo Edit: Keep in mind that the footage is sped up 50X. That robot is really scrutinizing the heck outta those corners.

I've enjoyed Johnny 5's work at kink.com, so I'll go with Johnny 5 now that he has traded in his laser for dildos.

I once wondered if any modern artist had realised the C18 inventor Jaques Vaucanson's fever dream of a robotic digestive system, which resulted in his famous 'Digesting Duck' automaton (though a great inventor, and a pioneer of programmable robotic looms, Vaucanson cheated a bit; the duck ate real grain, but shat a pre-loaded mix of greenish breadcrumb slurry) . Why did I even wonder this? Wim Delvoye's 'Cloaca' - a computer-controlled, poo-generating robot - has toured in several editions, to art galleries worldwide. The mad genius at his gleeful work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSFe91XlwYQ I still won't be happy with this thing until it generates the power it needs to operate from its own digestive processes.

That was post 4 man. With respect to the last DARPA Challenge, I'm rather fond of the JPL's Robosimian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HFXO_qx5ZY Rather than trying to emulate the human body, they took a look at what made sense for the motors they had available and ended up with a tentacle armed transforming robot ape.

NAO Bot becomes self aware? http://motherboard.vice.com/read/watch-these-cute-robots-struggle-to-become-self-aware quote:Three cute little Nao robots are sitting in a line. Two have been given poison “dumbing pills” that render them mute. The third robot has also received a “pill," but it's a placebo; it can still speak. A human tester then asks the robots, simply, “Which pill did you receive?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95aYLmG0wt8

Really interesting related article to that http://www.wired.com/2014/05/the-robot-car-of-tomorrow-might-just-be-programmed-to-hit-you/ Autonomous cars sound incredible on paper but they are really an ethical nightmare.

Say Nothing posted:NAO Bot becomes self aware? Impressive, but AI being able to solve specific problems isn't that groundbreaking. This sort of stuff is already worked into production robots, more a demonstration of what we can do than anything.
