Reveal Trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBaSzHdIfI4 Release Date: 7th October, 2016 on PC, Xbox One & PS4 - Preloading for PC is now available, 40.5gb download Website | Facebook | Twitter | Mafia Wikia | Steam Store synopsis posted:It’s 1968 and the rules have changed. After a tour of combat in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home in New Bordeaux, Lincoln is set on escaping a criminal past. But when his surrogate family, the black mob, is betrayed and wiped out by the Italian Mafia, Lincoln builds a new family on the ashes of the old and blazes a path of military-grade revenge through those responsible. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city's underworld. In November 2012, 2K Czech, the developer of the original Mafia: City of Lost Haven (2002) and Mafia II (2010), announced that the company was working on a "top secret, AAA game". After being in a pre-production state of developing the story, setting and creating their own game engine for over a year Mafia 3 entered development sometime in 2012. However, the company was later restructured and in January 2014 the main studio in Prague was shuttered, with resources being allocated to a new headquarters in Novato, California. A new studio called Hangar 13 was established by 2K Games the same year to take over development. The game is set in 1968 New Bordeaux, a re-imagined version of New Orleans, with the open world design allowing players to freely explore the game's world. Various alterations to the world were made to suit the narrative: the bayou and the city have been positioned at close proximity, despite being at a further distance in real Louisiana; the Superdome stadium was being constructed in 1968, but is excluded from the game; and locations such as Canal St. have been omitted from the game for visual aesthetics. The team intended the world to be accessible for high-speed chases. Born on the Bayou - Characters Lincoln Clay (Alex Hernandez) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY39s23xjIs Lincoln Clay is the protagonist of Mafia III, he grew up in Saint Michelle's orphanage in Delray Hollow, New Bordeaux. Still searching for an identity, he joined the United States Army to fight in the Vietnam War, where he watched many of his brothers in arms die in combat. Cassandra (Erica Tazel) | The Voodoo Queen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvQH-rFadVY Cassandra is a member of the Haitian Mob and forms an unlikely alliance with Lincoln. She's as ruthless as she is mysterious, but one thing is for certain the "Voodoo Queen" will destroy the human trafficking trade in New Bordeaux, no matter the cost. Thomas Burke (Barry O'Rourke) | The Anarchist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtPZD653XNw Thomas Burke is the leader of the Irish Mob in New Bordeaux, operating out of Burke's Iron & Metal, a local salvage yard. He ran all the rackets in Pointe Verdun for the Marcano Crime Family, including car thefts and vehicle chop shops. Sometime in mid 1966, they had a falling out over a lost shipment and Marcano muscled in and took over all of his operations. In order to regain what he once had, he joins forces with Lincoln Clay. Vittorio Scaletta (Rick Pasqualone) | The Throwback - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW6767-W7fk Vittorio Scaletta is the Italian-American protagonist of 2K Czech's Mafia II, a man who goes from war hero to Made Man in the span of only a few years. A much older Vito returns in Mafia III as a supporting NPC. Following the events of Mafia II in 1951, Vito was exiled to New Bordeaux as part of a deal negotiated by Leo Galante that allowed Vito to live after his assault on the Empire Bay Triads. He is put to work in the Marcano Crime Family and given the River Row district of New Bordeaux to run for Sal Marcano. Vito appeared as an unnamed hit man with Joe Barbero in the ending cutscene of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, making him the only character to appear in all three games. John Donovan | The Operative John Donovan is an ex C.I.A. agent. As an operative he was sent into Vietnam where he ran covert operations against the North Vietnamese regular and Viet Cong forces. He met Lincoln Clay while fighting in Vietnam and recruited him into the special forces. In August 1971 John Donovan was called to testify before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence regarding Lincoln Clay's involvement in taking out the Marcano crime family. Sal Marcano | The Italian Mafia - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrxVbLH-t5E Sal Marcano is the Don and Patriarch of the Marcano Crime Family. Brother of Lou and Tommy Marcano and Father of Giorgi. He is probably based on real life mob boss Carlos Marcello, who was the leader of the New Orleans crime family in the 1960s. Mafia 3 looks to possibly be the first successful Godfather game that balances you being the guy that can do anything, but also be head of a criminal empire. It be boring if you didn't get to do exciting poo poo, but you can try to maintain an organization and call in for reinforcements and weapons.

Mafia 1 is my favorite game of all time and probably the most underrated game of all time, so I hope this is good.

It looks to me like it has the faction take down elements(slowly destroy rival rackets, officers, whatever, then shoot a big cheese) then hand it over to one of your dudes to run. the story feels more like if the punisher worked with lesser criminals to take out a crime syndicate. i mean Lincoln is basically African american BJ blazkowicz(head injury and all). except instead of nazis, he is decimating mafia dipshits, white supremacists and white southerners(so basicaly nazis). which sounds loving awesome. i cant wait for this game. When the game was revealed a year ago I was skeptical. Not because it had a non-white protagonist-- which set off all the other fans-- but because the driving looked pretty terrible, way too floaty and the cars burst into flames when the wind blew. But they've made a lot of improvements it seems. While they have removed the petrol mechanic of the first two games and the main story missions are 'unlocked' by taking territory which might mean a slightly less structured story than the previous games I think we'll get a fun game out of it all. As long as a third of the game isn't cut near the end of development and replaced with a 2 minute montage cutscene (mafia 2) we should be good. The story takes place in the one year and apparently there will be no Vietnam missions in the game (maybe a dlc?) so the scope is smaller than the previous games, at least in setting.

I kinda hopped their would be a nam mission just as an intro to the prologue. it sounds to me like they have more of a saints row 2 story set up.(mutiple small factions with under one big faction) tide in with story main missions and ton of side ones and various smaller missions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REiXl6QE9VI

I wonder if Mafia 2 aged well. I don't care that the world was "dead", Mafia 1 was equally dead. Those games aren't open world they're just wrappers aroudn the stories.

Hoping this ends up being good. After Mafia II I'm a little wary but I think including things to actually do in the open world is a good move, since nothing in the previous games really justified there being one.

It's more because there were a lot of steep inclines in the first game and if you were obeying traffic laws and not breaking the speed limit you could just barely drive up them. Meaning if a cop is around, trying to get up one without going insane meant you would be fined by the cops.

Man by the end of Mafia 1 I was just takin the train to work every day and it was still a drag. Driving across town for every single mission got old quick. I would load up my own music during the train ride, so I was doing a goddamn commute in a game.

I'm pretty optimistic about this. I still enjoyed 2 but it was a disappointment in many ways. It looks like 3 is going to nail the atmosphere like the other entries in the series while the gameplay is more fleshed out and the world more filled with stuff to do. The gameplay shown so far doesn't seem very unique for an open world crime game. I hope these side activities you have to do to get to the bigger story missions don't end up feeling like padding. But the time period, the location and the protagonist are all different, so there's that.

Although, rumours/fan theories are that while Vito was in prison and Joe had to lie low and leave Empire City for 5 years he fled to, you guessed it, New Bordeaux. He might have even had a son in that time, who was put up for adoption. Lincoln Clay is mixed race and was born in 1945 so the timeline could match up, just. Maybe. Although I'm not too much a fan of that fan theory, but it could work out.

Most of their games (apart from any poo poo randy "the retard" pitchford and the burch sibling/the rest of gearbox poo poo out) are really good and they tend to take risks (like spec ops the line and to a lesser extent the bioshock series) the mafia games are great and 3 looks like it might be my game of the year. http://www.vice.com/read/why-mafia-iii-should-tackle-race-head-on also apparently it goes head first into the race stuff. so i am curious how well it will be handled. Walker was always one of the better if not Good thinkpiece writers so i trust him well enough.

I really wish I could get into Mafia 1, because every time I try it I love all the ground stuff. It's just anything involving driving is a nightmare. Like holy poo poo those cars don't move at all, and that intro chase is a nightmare. I'm cool with realistic, but youch. And people that like the game talk about a "nightmare race" that happens later. I'm just can never commit when I think of stuff like that. I actually liked Mafia 2. It was obviously a hacked together zombie game, but it was really neat playing a game that was so....banal, despite being this gangster piece. Like you never did anything worth a drat, you always just kind of played second fiddle nobody man until the end, and even then you didn't really do anything particularly great. Great mission design in a few places though that really held it up. The Penthouse Assault is still in my mind as one of the best shootouts in games, and the Observatory fight near the end felt fantastic/smooth. I just wish the game surrounding it was better. If this can expand on that, fantastic.

I would say that Mafia has some of the best third-person gunplay ever, perhaps second to Max Payne. I just love how loving kinetic and tiny-balls-of-metal-are-being-thrown-around it feels. Also, I'm legitimately hoping that they tackle race head-on and don't flinch or pull any punches. So many games have recently tried to make some parable to racism and not gone anywhere with it so it might as well have been excluded from that game completely. Most recently Mankind Divided had that whole "mechanical apartheid" marketing angle and it's nowhere in the game meaningfully beyond some surface level "oh these cops are oppressing them!"

I remember GTAV actually has that sort of stuff too. It was a "pleasant surprise." As horrible as it is it was nice to see it actually "addressed" instead of just magically handwaved away. Also the gameplay videos with firefights for this have looked like it carries on the excellent gunplay of the first two. I'm so loving excited.

Meanwhile, I am hoping that they don't take race head-on because all of the previous attempts have been pretty drat embarrassing. But we will see. It's a subject that I don't see playing out too well if all of the past iterations, the solutions have all been violence and shootouts, when during that time period, you had to be smart to succeed. I had problems with Django Unchained for similar reasons.
