I'm thinking maybe Flash Gordon (the 1980 movie), but a lot of people would say Zabriskie Point. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is supposed to be a shocker that made its money via record sales, but I haven't seen it.

I would imagine someone thinks the answer to this is Highlander, but that's incorrect. it's The Last Dragon

Flash Gordon is really loving funny. Freddie Got Fingered has a surprisingly good soundtrack for a very not good comedy.

Throwing my hat in for Flash Gordon, since Queen made that movie so much more. While not the worst movie of the franchise, I did have the Batman Forever soundtrack in high school.

Flash Gordon is great and the soundtrack elevates it to awesome.

If you like cheesy wannabe black metal you'll love Cradle of Fear. (it sucks but it does make you laugh with its awfulness) Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqOQy-5fdNs

Across The Universe. That subpar movie has a great soundtrack with exceptional Beatles covers I still listen to today.

The non-Goldeneye Brosnan Bond films all had pretty kick rear end retro-60's scores.

Mama Mia, when Pierce Brosnan folds open his face hole and the voice of an angel does not come out. I could listen to that forever.

Space Jam was explicitly just a movie combining two things that 10-year-olds in 1996 thought were the coolest things in the world: Looney Tunes and Michael Jordan. It wasn't a horrible movie but you had to be in that limited audience in order to appreciate it to the fullest. The soundtrack, however, was and still is great.

Zombie Nightmare was bad enough to be spoofed on MST3K, but the soundtrack featured Motorhead and Girl School. It's also sort of a fun bad movie in that you get to see Adam West rock a dad 'stache and try to act evil.

Maximum Overdrive The soundtrack is literally perfect for the type of movie it is, but it's still 100% B-grade schlock.

million dollar hotel not the worst movie but very up its own rear end with "quirkiness". pretty forgettable has a loving fantastic soundtrack with all sorts of chill, downtempo songs from u2, brian eno, daniel lanois, etc

Because of my either very good or very bad taste in music, from various points of view, Hackers was always my favorite in terms of licensed soundtrack. But Flash Gordon's soundtrack is transcendent.
