---FAGNER---
TEAM-MATE
Welcome in this Hublot Forum of Friendship match day thread for the second day of the FIFA World Cup 2018.

There will be three matches today:

Egypt vs Uruguay, 14:00 CET, 1 p.m. BST, 8 a.m. EST, Yekateringburg
Morocco vs Iran, 17:00 CET, 4 p.m. BST, 11 a.m. EST, Saint Petersburg
Portugal vs Spain 20:00 CET, 7 p.m. BST, 2 p.m. EST, Sochi

First up, Egypt vs Uruguay. Uruguay are surely the favorites, yet many of us are probably hoping for Egypt to get pretty far and somehow meet Spain in the KO stages, so that the Egypt players can kill Sergio Ramos. This match has entertainment potential, because there's always a chance that Luis Suarez will bite somebody.

Next up Morocco vs Iran. Pretty evenly matched, with Morocco being the bookies slight favorites. I recognize a few of the Moroccon players, but can't really say anything more about them.

Last but certainly not least, the two best teams playing today. Portugal vs Spain. Will Ronaldo carry his team or will the strong Spanish squad beat the one man show of Portugal? Will Sergio Ramos get away again with murdering a key player from the opposing team? Find out this evening/night in the likely best game of this match day.

If you want to read more about the teams, follow their threads:

Egypt Team Thread
Morocco Team Thread
Iran Team Thread
Spain Team Thread

I haven't found a Portugal or Uruguay thread.

Let's all enjoy another day of football at this cool and good FIFA World Cup 2018!

We had not left it yet, but when I would wake in the night, I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.

Mo Salah is on the bench but i think there's going to be a few goals but it'll be one way traffic into the egyptian net

Will Salah get 20 mins at the end, or are they too afraid he will be instantly killed?

Let's go Portugal.

Morocco were undefeated in qualifying, I think a lot of people are underestimating them. They can beat Iran imo.

Depends on how the game goes I imagine. Might need to risk him.

Egypt - Uruguay
Ref: Bjorn Kuipers (NED)
AR1: Sander van Roekel (NED)
AR2: Erwin Zeinstra (NED)
4th: Milorad Mazic (SRB)
VAR: Danny Makkelie (NED)

One of the more experienced referees out of Europe, Kuipers gets this match that could end up being more competitive than it should (especially if Salah plays), but likely doesn't have teams that will be around at the end of the tournament to mess with his ability to work deep if needed. Kuipers did the Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid champions league final, England/Italy at the last world cup, and the Marseille/Atletico Madrid Europa League final this year.

Morocco - Iran
Ref: Cüneyt Çakır (TUR)
AR1: Bahattin Duran (TUR)
AR2: Tarik Ongun (TUR)
4th: Sergey Karasev (RUS)
VAR: Felix Zwayer (GER)

Cakir sent off Nani that one time, I think most of us probably remember that. He also became the first referee to do two Champions League semi-finals in the same year, I believe, when he had two in 15/16. He is very highly thought of by UEFA and is a real candidate for the final, so this is an easy game to get him started with.

Portugal - Spain
Ref: Gianluca Rocchi (ITA)
AR1: Elenito Di Liberatore (ITA)
AR2: Mauro Tonolini (ITA)
4th: Ryuji Sato (JPN)
VAR: Massimiliano Irrati (ITA)

Still relatively new to being Italy's #1, this will be a big test for Rocchi. His experience with VAR probably helped him get this assignment with two known troublemakers in Pepe and Ramos around.

Millions will still argue that really Salah put his shoulder in Suarez’s mouth first, so what was Suarez to do?
