Against Eligor? I'd be planning Brawler/Gunslinger. Eligor's a close range fighter with his utter lack of range support, and Gerard tends to play close as well, making Archer less valuable in this matchup. And Gunslinger is purpose-built for the Eligor/Cesar/Alexian matchup.

Hmm, I almost always see Archer and Brawler as the first two in some order, but you're right that Gunslinger is better against Eligor.

From what I've seen, the opening few turns of pbp BattleCON are all about probing out how many moves ahead your opponent is thinking. Wolery made a good guess, based on Eligor's gimmick.

As for payoff, all he's done is made a potential opening--he can drop a high-power attack without fear of Aegis reprisal for two turns, and cost you a turn or so of vengeance protection. You'll probably take a sharp thwack to the side of the head and get back into Eligor's rhythm. (If you were up against a Heavyweight like Alexian or Cesar, or a stun-focused disruptor like Shekhtur or Byron, this would be scarier. Gerard's early game damage output isn't particularly noteworthy.)

In the meantime, play damage control. The worst thing Gerard can do right now isn't damage, it's setting up his coin engine. The longer it takes him to get to consistent Mage or Gunslinger cash, the better.

Yeah, that came off slightly whinier than I intended. We'll see whether it really was as emblematic as I assumed it was. Submitted.
