i remember all the firewire ports were hosed on our macs at school becuase people would force that 6 pin motherfucker as hard as possible untill the poo poo went into the port. basically all small ports are bad and will break due to users

You Am I posted:wait, are you talking about the firewire 400 or 800 ports? I can see the 800s could be easily broken by dumb people 400 on DV cameras. yes people would really he-man that poo poo into the pc so hard they had to buy firewire hubs because those were cheaper to replace than the towers.
