THIS IS THE RECRUITMENT/OOC THREAD

GAME THREAD IS non-existent right now, but there will be a link here when I make it

IT IS THE YEAR OF THE HIGH KING, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-EIGHT... AND WAR IS BREWING

The streets of Miamia have seen better days. Once a proud and bustling port, a jewel in the crown of the coast, it is now an unchecked cesspit of violence, smuggling, and corruption. Gang activity is at an all-time high, and the Miamia State Police Department has it's hands full... the hands that aren't accepting tribute from one of the many sources of suffering and dismay in this untamed nightmare of a city, that is. Lord Halsmay, a lone beacon of hope in this mad world, is set to leave his office at the end of the year, and many fear the outcome of the elections should his long-time rival Lord Mettner take the seat. With open ties to several tainted corporations, sucking the life from our fair city to fill their pockets, and rumored connections to prominent street gangs, they are right to fear for the future.

This is where you come in.

Recruited by the last bastion of law in the MSPD, you are Lord Halsmay's last-ditch effort to bring some order into this town. You are a nobody, some low-life street thug trying to make a difference. Your past is your own, the law neither requires nor requests your history at this point. They just want your skills, and your conviction to take these sick bastards down, one way or another. With precious little resources from the MSPD, you will be working outside of the law with your fellow recruits, anonymously taking down gangs from the inside and sabotaging corporate plots. If the only justice to be served is vigilante, then serve it well.

You enter a world of wizards and warriors, or orcs and elves, but unlike one you've seen before, outside of perhaps Shadowrun. Inky pastel hues dot the city by day as luxurious sports-cars dash through the hills and the law patrols the streets, while a dull neon glow casts over the world by night, illuminating your path to demonic night clubs and brutal underground blood-sports. Violence, and justice, is dispensed by the blade and by spell in this land, as guns were outlawed years ago. In Miamia, the unlawful rule, with the governor's office and, by extension, the MSPD, barely serving as a band-aid for the gushing wound that is this city's crime problems. To the north, in the upper-class Yich Hills, are the North Point Outrunners, a gang of reckless car thieves and underground racers. To the south, operating in the alleys and side-streets of The Industrial Quarter are the Roughnecks, a violent cabal of cultists and smugglers that operate more like a religious congregation than a gang. To the west, along the borders of Califain and the Neverdant Sands, lay the Peacekeapers, Lord Mettner's private army of crooked cops and self-righteous gangsters. And in the center of all this is Central Square, a densely-packed grid of office buildings and corporate HQs, primarily occupied by the Miamia State Police Department.

Will you bring justice to the lawless streets? Will you topple these pillars of crime and liberate the state of Miamia from their killing grasp? Or will you succumb to temptation and take the streets for yourselves? After all, if the MSPD couldn't get a handle on the problem by now, maybe they shouldn't be in charge. Take to the streets and show us what you're really made of.

Game Info
I primarily want this thing to run in basically any form but PbP. I'm leaning more towards Roll20. It's not that I want minis, it's more that I prefer the fast-paced, face-to-face style of play rather than stretching it out over PbP. That being said, I would consider a play-by-post alternative or even something alongside the main game depending on player interest. We're running PbP since real-time didn't generate enough interested. I've never run a PbP so I think we'll have some fun anyway. Plus, it will give me an excuse to create more lovely photoshops. I'm probably going to roll out with five or six people, first come first serve. Any profiles posted after we roll out will be considered for replacements if someone has to drop out.

Use http://orokos.com/roll/ for rolls.

Character Creation

Almost anything goes, as far as classes. Check the Dungeon World thread for a list of classes. The only things I'm banning are Pirate World and Inverse World playbooks, but that's mostly because they're written for books that operate slightly different than base Dungeon World. On that note, feel free to basically reskin these classes and their items to suit your needs. Paladins could become cops who beseach the ideal of Justice instead of any one god. Bards can be keytar players in a lovely garage band. Wizards can be straight up wizards, on the other hand, since that sort of thing exists in this setting! Feel free to be any fantasy race, as well. Tieflings, Golems, Kobolds, everything's good.

Some things to keep in mind when you're setting up, though:

-Guns are illegal. That doesn't mean they don't exist, it's just very unlikely that anyone has one. They're super rare.
-Bows and Crossbows, while not illegal, will draw attention. Have an excuse ready.
-Offensive magic is also illegal, but there's not a ton anyone can do about it.
-Your character begins as essentially nobody, or rather, someone who hasn't made a name for themselves yet. Could be an underachieving desk-jockey wanting to make his name, or an low-ranking ex-gang member, or a sandwich artist, or whatever. Keep this in mind.
-If you must have a vehicle (we will be using vehicle combat rules when/if the need arises, they're simple so don't worry), try not to make it too flashy. If no one has a vehicle, the MSPD will provide you with one. It'll be the shittiest one in the impound lot.
-When creating your character, think within the realms of action movies. Robotic Limbs are 100% acceptable.
-If you have any questions, ask!

Yeah, The Punk looks like it's fine to use! Your link seems to be broken, is this what you're looking for? If so, your racial is now your background. Couple of custom playbooks change it around so it doesn't feel so limiting on what race you play, but it's basically the same thing. Drive, in this instance, is your alignment.

I knew I should've written those Bonds months ago. That class actually hasn't been super heavily tested, and you're now being recruited into playtesting duty. If you could let me know if you find any wild power imbalances (either too good or too useless) at ltmuffin@gmail.com, it would help me a whole lot.

MAGE CURES PLOT

Markus (and Menog)
Spellcaster
Theme Song

I didn't see until I was already about to post this that you wanted something other than pbp, I'm pretty much limited to only being able to play by post, so if the rest of the group is for something else, I'll bow out.

Menog: A millenia old incorporeal demon from outside of reality, and currently possessing Markus. Capable of powerful magic, and thirsting to take ruinous vengeance over this, and all other, realities for its betrayal and imprisonment thousands of years ago.

Markus: A low level thug acting as slave and meatsuit for Menog. He's not too bright, but he's good in a fight.

quote:

The only time any magic is actually cast is when Menog is in direct control, otherwise Markus is just your average dumb mook with an evil voice in his head:
Markus goes limp like a child's doll, as sickly pale energy suspends his body like a puppet.
He floats about a foot off the floor, his eyes and mouth wide in an expression of shock and terror, a blinding and unsettling light emanates from within him, and shines forth from his mouth and eyes.
Towering above Markus' body is an emaciated apparition of pure malicious darkness, like solid shadow. Its blank silver eyes shine with the abominable energies and magics It wields: blood curses, maddening visions, warping the very fabric of the world to twist monstrous abominations into being..."

Menog views all people including Markus as simply tools to be used and then expended when convenient, like a beast of burden. Markus himself, is just a normal man, his only armaments are his sword and base strength to overcome foes. (basic class damage with his sword, only uses basic moves)

quote:

Look:
(Markus) Haunted eyes, Wild hair, Leather Armor, Muscular Body
Level: 1
XP: 0/8
Alignment: Evil (Use magic to cause terror and fear.)
Race: Human (When you challenge someone to a magical duel, you take +1 forward to act against them.)

DMG: d4 (d6 for black magic)
Armor: 1/1
HP: 20/20

STR 13(+1) INT 15(+1)
DEX 9(+0) WIS 12(+0)
CON 16(+2) CHA 8(-1)

GEAR:
Dungeon Rations (5/5 uses, 1 weight)
The Librum Ceterus, Book of Menog (1 weight)
Light Armor (1 armor, 1 weight)
Shortsword (hand, 1 weight)
Healing Potion (heal 10 dmg or remove one Debility)

?? Coins
Load: 4/8

Bonds TBD
  • name is strong enough to help me with a great undertaking.
  • Menog's mysterious and terrible magic also frightens name.
  • name understands the power of Menog's magic.

quote:

MOVES:
Magic Style
  • Focus: Domination through magic
  • Looks: Hellfire, Coils of darkness, madness, plague, famine, death, apocalypse
  • Feels: Terrifying, awe-inspiring, an evil that cuts to your core
  • Acts: Grandiose and Unstoppable

Arcane Learning
Menog is a font of disturbing esoteric knowledge. When you Spout Lore or Discern Realities about something magical or otherwise arcane, on a 10+ the GM will also tell you a little-known secret about the subject.

Black Magic
When you cast a spell to destroy or inflict pain, say what you intend to do, choose two tags, and roll +INT. On a hit, the spell works, If you are dealing damage, you deal 1d6 damage.
On a 10+, choose one option.
On a 7-9, choose two:
  • You must take from something or someone else to do what you want
  • Your spell has unforseen side effects, and might draw unwanted attention
  • Your magic affects much more or less than you intended
  • It is readily apparent that you are the one who is behind the spell
On a miss, the magic is beyond your control; whatever happens, you will regret casting the spell.
RANGE: Reach, Near
TAGS: Debilitating (-1 damage), Elemental (choose 1), Forceful, Piercing 1, Subtle, Two Targets (-1 damage)

OWLBEARS, SON
KING CROW, the HUMAN PUNK

KING CROW as the guy totally wrecking the other dude's poo poo.

KING CROW is a man with NOTHING WITH LOSE and NOTHING TO FEAR. He roams the streets of Miamia alone, enacting his form of TWO-FISTED, COLD METAL JUSTICE on the CRIMINALS AND LAWBREAKERS.

quote:

1d8 Damage 6+CON Hit Points
STR 13 ( +1) INT 8 ( -1)
DEX 16 (+2 ) WIS 12 (0 )
CON 15 ( +1) CHA 9 (0 )
Drive: [X] Thirst for Recognition – Be recognized for your actions. Your friends recognition is nice but not enough of what you're after.
Upbringing: [X] Survivor – You can take care of yourself. You deal +2 damage when you are outnumbered or unarmed.
---Starting Moves---
Artful Dodger - When you run to close the gap between you and an opponent, choose one.
*You easily slide over, under, or through an obstacle in your way.
*You use your momentum to add Forceful to your attack.
The Ol' Charm - When you turn the ol' charm, roll +CHA.
10+: The other party finds you likeable enough to not immediately shut you down, and they will help you out if you do something helpful for them first.
7-9: Whoever stops you from harassing the other party gets +1 Forward to dealing with them.
6-: In addition to whatever else happens, you are completely shot down and it is completely humiliating.
The Hand is Quicker than the Eye – Any one-handed weapon you wield has Precise.

--Moves--
[X ] Free Running - When you take the fastest and most direct path between two points regardless of structural safety or sanity, roll +DEX.
10+ You make it across safely. 7-9: You make it across, but you won't be able to make it back the same way.

---Gear---
You start with dungeon rations and a seemingly endless supply of a cheap but illegal substance for your personal use.
Choose two:
[X] Dented Bat (Close, 1 weight)
[X] Switchblade (Hand, Concealable, 0 weight)

Sounds good, time-wise, and if we do a chat client we'll be trying Roll20 first, due to the ease of me putting pictures up and handing stuff out. Voice chat won't be that big of an issue, if you can't use it, and if you can't listen in for some reason we can try just pure text, too. We probably won't be doing any video at all, as it's largely unnecessary.

I'm making a double-post to bump this thread because I'm changing up how we're playing slightly. We'll be moving to PbP, since it seems to work for most people. I don't prefer it, but I'll deal. Never ran one before though, so I'll have to get used to it.

SEDA-01 was the first version of an automated Security Golem/Automaton. Unfortunately, the finalized version was never brought into production, as there were issues with interacting with the public. SEDA-01 was comissioned for the MSPD, and after the failure of the SEDA-02 series, was never activated or deployed in the field. THUNDERDOME LOSER 2022

Josh Rambeaux the Outlander
From Fenarisk's revised core playbooks.

Lots of mother fuckers have tried to kill me. First was my dad when he beat me half to poo poo for lighting the rug on fire. Next was the recruiter who told me I'd get to see the world. Third were my bunkmates, who hated me for my strong muscles and killer's instinct - but that blanket party turned into a punchfest with me behind the fists. Fourth were the Charlies, everywhere in that drat jungle. Finally had to burn out their tunnels with some stickyblaze canisters, then slice 'em up one by one as they ran out screaming. drat, that felt good. Fifth was my commanding officer who left me stranded behind enemy lines, all on my own - aside from Wheng, the only other recon private I could ever trust. Probably on account of how he was an outsider like me. Sixth was the Charlie torturer who flayed Wheng alive in front of me, and tried to starve me out over six years in a bamboo shack. Seventh was the army doc, after the rescue, who said I had high blood pressure and should take some time to relax. Eighth was the MSPD test grader who tried to flunk me out for not really being able to spell. gently caress him, and this fuckin' desk job they saddled me with. One of these days a god drat apocalyptic storm is gonna hit this city, and Josh Rambeaux will be right there on the front lines, sword in hand, lookin' for the next mother fucker tryin' to kill him. And then the whole world's gonna know my name.

Look: Haunted eyes, mighty body, shiny chest, no shirt

Drive: Living Legend - Inspire people, studio moguls or history itself to acknowledge your greatness.
Background: Walker of the Wastes - You have traveled far and wide, surviving against the brutal landscapes and deadly creatures that stalk them. When you Make Camp, you do not need to consume rations. When you Take Watch, you are always considered armed and prepared, even on a miss.

Starting Moves:
Unencumbered, Unharmed
So long as you are below your load and neither wear armor nor carry a shield, take +1 armor. In addition, you do not need to make Last Breath rolls until you are at -CON bonus.

Herculean Appetites
Others may contend themselves with just a taste of wine, or dominion over a servant or
two, but you want more. Choose two appetites. While pursuing one of your appetites if
you would roll for a move, instead of rolling 2d6 you roll 1d6+1d8. If the d6 is the higher
die of the pair, the GM will also introduce a complication or danger that comes about due
to your heedless pursuits.
X Pure destruction

The Upper Hand
You take +1 ongoing to Last Breath rolls. When you take your Last Breath, on a 7-9 you
make an offer to death in return for your life. If death accepts he will return you to life. If
not, you die.

Musclebound
While you wield a weapon it gains the forceful and messy tags.

What Are You Waiting For?
When you cry out a challenge to your enemies, roll +CON. *On a 10+, they treat you as the most obvious threat to be dealt with and ignore your companions, take +2 damage ongoing against them. *On a 7-9, only a few (the weakest or most foolhardy among them) fall prey to your taunting.

Yeah, that's cool. Lots of movies in the 80s had robots of some sort, and even if they didn't, fantasy is riddled with robots and robot-likes, so you're good on automatons.

Deltasquid posted:

Yeah, go for it! Feel free to use a gun if you need to for your theme, or some kind of crazy tech crossbow, or whatever you need to use.

Guns are fine, just be aware that they're rare and super illegal. You're all working OUTSIDE OF THE LAW so it shouldn't be an issue, but be aware that firearms are going to be attention grabbing and a great excuse for some crooked (and even legit) cops to put the pressure on you.

I'll update the second post in a moment with current players, applicants, and bench-warmers.

E: Alright here's how this is going to work. The game starts Monday. I'll run like, one more person, I think. The next person IN THE WINGS that posts their character profile is in. Everyone IN THE WINGS, and anyone who posts a profile after right now, will be moved to the BENCH WARMERS, where we'll draw from if someone decides to drop from the game or ghosts on us.

As for the game itself, I'll try to stop in every day, at least two or three times, and update the game thread. There will be lots of detail and CAPITALIZATION and possibly some terrible photoshops. I'll try and make sure everyone gets a turn before I post something myself, so please check the thread often, but this is Dungeon World so I'll also be making posts directed at specific players to keep the action flowing without too much downtime.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to have them as guns or not. But I'll probably end up doing a write up of them, the playbook does want a description of them, so it be amiss not to do one. Sadly I've got to head to bed now for work in the morning. But I'll get something together by the end of tomorrow (that's GMT tomorrow btw.)

It's fine, do what you gotta' do. We won't be starting until Monday, possibly toward the evening (EST)

Feel free to use this thread to ask questions or talk about the setting or whatever, guys

E: Aaaand we're full. Forgot about someone in the Dungeon World thread. They'll be posting a character in this thread soon, hopefully.

I didn't expect us to fill up so quickly. If everyone's cool, I can just start the game tomorrow instead of waiting until the weekend is over.

E2: You know what? Answer some questions for me:

1. The MSPD recruited from the bottom rungs of society to assemble this rag-tag group of violent nobodies. How did they find you? Or how did you find them?

2. Do you have any prior ties to the MSPD, the North Point Outrunners, the Roughnecks, the Peacekeepers, or any other notable faction in or near Miamia?

KING CROW was WRONGFULLY ARRESTED after introducing some NO-GOOD THUGS to the concept of JUSTICE. KING CROW then agreed to join the group in order to once again PROTECT THE CITY BUT WITH POLICE APPROVAL THIS TIME.

KING CROW DOESN'T NEED THE MSPD (unless they're letting him keep Miamia in order). As for gangs, KING CROW is WELL KNOWN by all ORGANIZED CRIME GROUPS as he STRIKES FEAR into the hearts of ALL CRIMINALS (is a total nuisance to the gangs who haven't really gotten around to killing him yet)

I'm still working on the details but Django the Battlemaster from Grimworld if you're okay with that.

And assuming that's okay:

1. Django was a washout from the academy. He was good at getting results but he went about them in unorthodox and sometimes illegal ways. They kept his information and found him in a bar one step from being a fullblown alcoholic.

2. Prior ties to the MSPD seeing as he was a washout from the academy.

Choose a Default Tactic. By nature you always have this Tactic
active until you Change Tactics.
Aggressive, Cautious, Reactive, Defensive, Reckless
You can always spend 1 Gambit to instantly return to this Tactic

Gambit posted:

When you or someone you have a bond with takes damage from
an outside source, it was part of your plan the whole time, gain
+1 Gambit. What some might see as an unwanted setback, you
know it's merely a stratagem to gain a later advantage.
At any time, reveal your ploy and use Gambits to:
•  Add +1 to anyone's roll (Cost: 1)
•  Deal your damage to an enemy (Cost: 2)
•  Create an obstacle or distraction that a single enemy has to deal
with before they can do anything else (Cost: 3)
•  Th GM will help you reveal a trap, ambush, or plan that gives
you and your allies a surprising advantage (Cost: 4)

Multiple Gambits can be used and the effcts stack. Aftr the end
of a battle or when it makes sense, your Gambit count resets to 0.

Starting moves posted:

Heavy Armor Training
You ignore the clumsy tag on armor you wear.

Tactics
Your knowledge and training allows you to assess a battle and know the correct tactical
approach. Only one Tactic can be active at a time.

Change Tactics
When you draw on your knowledge and training to assess a combat situation, roll +INT.
✴On a 10+, you formulate a plan and select a new Tactic. ✴On a 7-9, also choose one:
•  The new Tactic isn't effective at fist, take -1 Forward
•  An early plan led up to this, spend 1 Gambit
•  The Tactic requires that you draw attention or put yourself in a spot. Th GM will tell you how.
*Aggressive
When you Hack and Slash, deal your damage even on a 6-.
*Cautious
Gain +1 when you Defy Danger.
*Reactive
You cannot Hack and Slash, but you can Counterattack:
When you are attacked in melee and attempt to counter, roll +DEX. ✴On a 7+, you
expertly parry the attack. ✴On a 10+, you riposte and deal your damage.
*Defensive
When you use the Defend move, treat a 6- as a 7-9.
*Reckless
When you deal damage, deal +1d4 damage. When you take damage, take +1d4 damage.

War Knowledge
When you Spout Lore about combat topics such as historical battles, military figures, martial
weapons or armor, take +1.

Battle of Wits
You always know in which goblet resides the poison. When an enemy is watching you and
there's a difficult choice to make, the GM will tell you what the enemy expects you to do.

Starting Gear posted:

Load=10+STR (12)
You carry dungeon rations (5 uses, 1 weight), a spyglass (1 weight),
and a dagger (hand, 1 weight).
Scale armor (2 armor, clumsy, 3 weight)
Warhammer (close, 1 weight) and shield (+1 armor, 2 weight)
Bandages (3 uses, slow, 0 weight)

When you die (if you fail or forgo Last Breath), you
can use this move:
Death: grand Plan
It's time. All of your preparation for this moment must
fially come to fruition. When you die, your grand plan
is revealed and your death proves to be the fial gambit.
Your allies may have known all along or maybe you kept
them in the dark, knowing they wouldn’t understand.
Work with the GM to reveal this master plot. Th plan
should give your allies a major boon or advantage, or
set up your enemies for destruction, or set major world
events in motion. Rest in peace, Battlemaster, knowing
even now in death, the goals you had in life will soon
be achieved.

All Django wanted growing up was to be like his older brother Archibald. A brave warrior who fought for the forces of good immune to corruption. In the end Archibald was done in by his "partner" after discovering he was involved in the drug trade. Django joined he academy as soon as he was old enough and he excelled in his training but once he hit the streets it was revealed he was far more violent than his older brother and he quickly ended up suspended and then fired. He's spent time doing oddjobs and drinking his life away in the taverns ever since.

I'm still thinking about how to reskin the gear. I think I'm gonna go with the armor being riot gear and the hammer being a heavy baton.

They literally found SEDA-01 in a crate in the basement of the MSPD headquarters, a failed investment for the MSPD. Maybe if they release him onto the streets he can do some good...at least he'll be out of the building.

The SEDA-02 Production Prototype went haywire at the unveiling when it crushed the hand of a Miamia Official (Respect can only be shown by a firm handshake), then had a violent run in with the Police Force who tried to stop it. SEDA-01 has been mistaken for the malfunctioning 02 model, who is lampooned and/or feared in many underground circles of Miamia.

When the discharged me from McClusky Veteran's Hospital, I had nothin'. Army even had to disavow my existence on account of some of the poo poo they had me do. So no pay, no medals, definitely no fuckin' parade. I hitched around a while, but somethin' kept pullin' me back to Miamia. Maybe it was cuz I'd lived there - seen the scum on the streets with my own beady peepers. So I tried it all. First I ran for Mayor - that didn't work, and the resultin' assassination attempt was kinda insultin' to be honest. Next it was the city council, then the school board, even the fuckin' dogcatcher - same thing. I guess my face just ain't meant for public office. I spiraled for a while, hit the flayleaf pretty hard, but one morning I woke up with a MSPD flyer stuck to my face, an' I knew it was a sign. I went in for testing an' nearly scrubbed out entirely - but I guess they were desperate enough to give me a gig, failed spelling test & psych eval an' all.

Personally? HELL NO. They're the same breed of living garbage as the Charlies shootin' my buddies from the treetops back overseas, an' I intend to bring the lot of em to JUSTICE!! But my brother's in the Roughnecks, an' I heard some of those fractious bastards that left me behind in The War ended up as Peacekeepers. Fuckin' figures...

Well... Honestly, I was kinda rooting around in a guys pockets when they found me. Hey! It wasn't like that! He tried to mug ME! I was just playing the lost vulnerable nieve young lady, trying to get some place to sleep for the night, when this guy. Well, I say 'guy', "Creep" would be a better name. Well, he comes up and he's all 'hey baby, looking for a place to stay? I know a cheep hotel not far from here'

So I played along, thinking he'd at least lead me to some squatters place or crack den or something. At least there I can get a roof over my head for cheep. But this guy... he starts getting all grabby, and by the time we got to the alley I was thinking I'd have this guy over me all night. But instead he pulls the knife and wants my stuff.

I could not stop laughing, it was this tiny little thing. Practically a fruit knife! So I shot him in the leg, and the fucker pisses himself and then passes out. It was awesome. I guess some of the MSPD heard the shot cuz they came running and see me fishing the dude's pockets for cash. Kinda a pain, but I was going to end up there one way or another. This way I get a lift! So, they take me in, and try to throw the book at me. They wanna know who I am, why I have no record or file, oh and about my guns. At which point I start flexing and posing being all like 'THESE GUNS?!' After about six hours of this they let me go back to my cell. I think I was on the verge of cracking one of them. So I blew him a kiss on the way out.

Someone was pissing themselves laughing I think, because shortly after they offer me this job dropping gangs, sounded like a laugh. So I signed up.

Seriously though... pissed himself and fainted. Awesome!

MAGE CURES PLOT

Until Five years ago I was nothing but low level muscle for The North Point Outrunners. Even hot poo poo car thieves need someone to watch their back, y'know?
  • Markus (5 years ago)
So anyway, my crew and I had just totally boosted a huge shipment of Sanguine Ecstasy*, the latest, hottest poo poo to hit the streets, and alongside the box there was this weird old book, looked valuable so I skimmed it when no one was looking, the score had everyone so pumped they all completely forgot about the book.

*SE is basically Cocaine soaked in a special alchemical formulation of various animal bloods, said to increase the effects tenfold over regular cocaine, and also impart very temporary and very minor magical ability to users.
  • Menog (6,000 years ago)
I am the desolate one, the harbinger of the outer dark, worshipped as a god.
I am bringer of ruin in the pantheons of one hundred worlds. My ambitions burn, but my reach exceeded my grasp. I conquered too much, too fast. The avaricious "peers" of the glory of Menog were patient. I was brash. They showed restraint where I had none.
    They betrayed ME!
Those weaklings trapped, and bound the Great Devourer in chains of euclidian geometry. They shaped my form into this cursed book, bound in (ugh) mortal's skin, written in a language of madness and dark secrets, and guarded by their loyal mortal servants, sworn to keep such shining weapons of destiny like myself from ever being used against their "masters".
DEATH TO THE BETRAYERS AND ALL WHO SERVE THEM!

  • Markus (5 years ago)
So I'm tryin to figure out what this book is about, to see if the Swan Street Sorcerors or some "art" collector fucks uptown would be more interested in it and it's nothing but complete cack, total gibberish, I'd assumed there'd be...like...a note or instructions or somethin...
  • Menog (1000 years ago)
This interminable penance! I smote out my rage millenia ago within the pages of this book. I suppose I've learnt my lesson, I've learnt the value of patience...oh yes. I've learned to make...planssss, so maaaanyyyy plaaaaannnnnnsssssssss...
  • Markus (5 years ago)
THE DAMNED WHISPERS, ENDLESS WORDS AND LAUGHTER. CAN'T SLEEP CAN'T EAT CAN'TTHINK! THE CREW THINKS I'VE GONE COMPLETELY SHIFTY ON EM. I HAD TO SHANK PACO LAST NIGHT, HE TRIED TO RALLY THEM ALL AGAINST ME TRIED 'TA TAKE WHAT'S MINE! ALL AGAINST. ME!

  • Markus (5 years ago)
I hear it all the time now. The voice. Its words are a constant buzz in the back of my mind. It tells me of power, and riches beyond imagining...I just need to set it free.
    Set it...
  • Menog and Markus (5 years ago)
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! FREE AT LAST! I convinced the soft flesh-thing to open my pages and read from the Ars Ceterus.

The demon's words, in my brain like icy knives. It wanted me to read the inscription (how could I read that inscription!?) The words felt like broken glass in my mouth, tasted like blood and hot metal. W-what have I/we donewhathavewedonetousweare...ONE.
  • Markus (now)
I'm sorry, to all the gods, all the spirits, every kind soul in all the worlds, I am so sorry for what I've done...what I've let loose. It hurts me when I refuse Its demands, it sees and hears and knows the world through me...It has plans, I don't know <<REVENGE YES REVENGE ON THE AVARICIOUS ONES>>
but sometimes it takes control, it makes me sleep and uses my body as a
<<SERVE MENOG AND BE REWARDED, RESISTANCE WILL BE MET WITH DESTRUCTION. HEED ME FLESH-THING, TOGETHER WE WILL SPREAD OUR GLORIOUS PURPOSE>>
It made me kill the crew! Oh god it just waved a hand and they exploded, the screaming <<FURTHER WE MUSSST GO, MUCH FURTHER. MUST BE PATIENT, GATHER POWWWER, GATHER RESOURCES, GATHER INFORMATION. GATHER STRENGTH>>
gods help me. gods help us all...

See above:
I used to be a low level Outrunners member, but after "I" killed the group of Outrunners I hung with, I've been Kill-On-Sight by them ever since.
No one believes me about the demon, mostly everyone just thinks I've cracked and gone loony while also somehow learning how to cast some (tbh pretty wicked) magic.

Posting a quick update to tell you that the game is dead.

Well, I mean, I'm not running it. Everyone else is free to if they wish, I'm not going to send lawyers if you want to use my lovely setting. I might send one but I won't pay a lot of money for him so you should be fine.

Basically, something came up and it killed both my free time for this and also my enthusiasm (which was the bigger nail in the coffin). That isn't to say I'll never run one again, but for right now I just don't see myself committing to it, and I don't want to give you guys the run-aruond and drag this slow, depressing death of a game out any longer than is necessary. HOWEVER, if I do decide to run this again in a magical, mystical time in the future where I feel like it and am able, I'll either rez this thread or do something to make sure the people who would have played this round get to play the next one if they still want to.
