after decades of pirating every game ever made I decided I should buy a game for once. so I downloaded steam and bought Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for $3. First off, steam is poo poo. its always been a bloated platform for advertising lovely games and the first thing it did was shove anime garbage in my face.  who the gently caress would buy this? buying the game was easy, after the game finished downloading and installing I was ready to play! Oh wait never mind, its giving me a product key for some reason? what the gently caress I have to use UPLAY?!?  You thought steam was lovely? Wait til you try out Uplay, the loving updating and installation of uplay took longer than installing windows +steam + video game. so now I'm opening steam to open uplay to open a game. Ok whatever, I'm just going to power through this install and play this loving game.  WHAT THE gently caress MORE UPDATING?? I just went through 30 loving minutes of updating and now I have to sit through this garbage while it downloads at 40kB/s? at this point, I'm tempted to torrent the game right now and see if I can download, install it, and play it by the time uplay is done blowing itself. but I spent 3 loving dollars on this stupid poo poo so I have to see this through to the end. keep in mind this game is like 3 years old. its a loving mod for Far Cry 3. I'm spending an hour trying to play a mod for a better video game. after creating an account with uplay and activating my product I'm ready to play.   What the gently caress is going on now? there's no processes in task manager except steam and uplay  Hahahahaa steam thinks I played 38 minutes because that's how long it's been since I hit that 'play' button until this point. Well after an 8 hour work day of troubleshooting computers, and 38 minutes of installing programs, the last thing I want to do is troubleshoot a 3 year old mod for a game being run by 2 gaming platforms with 2 different DRM schemes. Don't buy games, kids. its not just a waste of money, its a waste of time, and time is money, so don't waste your money.

second, all Ubisoft games have to have Uplay regardless of where they came from IIRC. it's not Steam's decision to include UPlay since they're just the distributor, much like gamestop can't help you if watch_dogs is buggy as hell. lastly, task manager>background processes>far cry 3: blood dragon hth
