   Hollywood is starting to show a trend, and that's remaking movies with a "woke" female cast and heavy empowerment vibe. I get it, but is it really empowering to retrace the same lines originally drawn by men? I hate remakes by default, but now I feel I have to tiptoe around criticizing it for being an intellectually hollow cash grab lest I be branded problematic. Anyone who saw the new Mad Max would agree that Charlize Theron was terrific as a strong female lead, and there have been a number of great movies made by female directors(Lost in Translation, Hurt Locker, Triumph of the Will, etc) The issue is, remakes suck(Karate Kid, Clash of the Titans, Conan) and putting in a female cast is the laziest way to try and revive a successful franchise. I think these ladies should just say no.

Executives jerk off continuously to the thought of familiar franchises and name recognition. They also love the attention going all female guves them because two warring factions of internet morons cannot stop having incredibly drawn out battles over this. So from their perspective there is 0 reason to stop doing this ever. Also they do not care about making a "good" movie. At all. Period. Butts in seats is their sole concern.
