So the latest media shitstorm is Quieten Tarantino defending sentient pile of human poo poo Roman Polanski on Howard Stern. https://news.sky.com/story/quentin-tarantino-criticised-over-resurfaced-roman-polanski-rape-interview-11239791 Now, well deserved. He said some supremely hosed up stuff, and he wasn't even on target with it - anyone who bothered to read the transcript will know how the victim was, despite literally being drugged, never stopped saying no and asking him to stop so even his dumb hosed up view is wrong. So yeah, have at him for this. But it got me thinking. Where the gently caress is everyone else in this story? Because he was far from the only one. When Polanski got arrested all of Hollywood gave pleas not to bring him back to the states, and all of them expressed the same "It was a different era and it was all cool man!" vibe, ignoring both the fact she was loving 13 and also the fact she was not into it even if you can wrap your worldview to that hosed up extreme. Like, it got brought up at award shows. Geroge loving Clooney was defending the guy, and insisting it was a different era. The same poo poo Tarrintino was saying in this interview in a slightly friendlier tone. Over and over. The only guy to call the bullshit for what it was I can remember was Chris Rock. Polanski is such a pile of poo poo (who immediately fled to Europe to keep loving kids and even bragged about it in his biography while not paying his victim legal damages) that it really pissed me off when all of Hollywood started trying to slant this as some misunderstood product of the times / love story, instead of a sick fucker taking a girl for a photo shoot then ignoring her saying no over and over while drugging her and raping her in the rear end. gently caress this guy. But the more I thought about this whole story the more I started going "he's literally giving the Hollywood party line, here. Why the gently caress isn't the rest of Hollywood burning along with him?" Maybe it's a long shot, but it'd be hilarious to put together a montage of all those fuckwits saying the same thing about this guy. Maybe it'd go viral with the current climate. Does anyone know where to find all the lovely celebrities apologizing for Polanski and begging for his freedom during his arrest and possible extradition (that got bought off)? I really do just want to splice them in with the Quinten interview for laughs because it's literally lockstep. ED: Seriously if anyone wants to throw a link towards any of the hundreds of A-listers saying this same poo poo, I'm totally going to make mash-up video just because it seems everyone forgot how many people defended this. I mean just look at when Polanski won an Oscar for the Pianist and he got a standing ovation. Harrison Ford flew to France to give him the statue. Also Tarantino was already on thin ice for being a creepy idiot

Also Tarantino was already on thin ice for being a creepy idiot See, that's what I'm talking about. I want to get people like Harrison Ford defending the guy. Literally hundreds of them were. Tarantino might have been on thin ice and I'm not interested in helping him, only saying "Well if you're going to burn him at the stake, we're going to need a lot more stakes." They all have the same loving excuse. It really annoyed me at the time they'd all defend him with this logic, so the fact that suddenly someone has been called out for it.. well I'd find it immensely amusing if the fire spread a bit. I'd be down for dousing it a bit with gasoline, even.

To be honest the dozens of people standing on a red carpet saying a slightly nicer-toned version of what he was saying over and over pissed me off more than QT himself. QT always comes off a bit like he's autistic so it's actually harder to defend someone like Ford or Clooney or the hundreds of others defending him (including a bunch of #metoo women, so that's something) I just find it odd everyone's nailing his rear end to a wall, while apparently forgetting that there were hundreds of other asses literally with the same message. We need more nails.

idk OP LAPD cares more about shooting poor people I guess. That and lack of any evidence to act on I suppose. Plus the rest of America is starstruck because they have been indoctrinated with capitalist propaganda from birth.

mind the walrus posted:It's 100% political. No one gave a gently caress about Weinstein until it became possible and advantageous to take him down. The "Me Too" movement was well-intentioned, overdue, and should be cleaning house in the entertainment industry, but is ultimately beside the point. That is why Terry Crews is struggling to get a lawsuit off the ground against another Weinstein-alike and generally speaking no one big has really been taken down with Weinstein yet, even though everyone informally knows that some seriously hosed-up poo poo goes on in entertainment. Here's why I'm getting a little annoyed with #metoo quote:Polanski’s latest film, Carnage, starring Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster and Christoph Waltz, premiered Sept. 1 at the Venice Film Festival to the best reviews Polanski has seen since 2002's The Pianist. Half the women involved in it were more than happy to sign up to work with a child rapist who kept on raping kids after leaving the US. Kind of makes the "the men knew!" message bullshit when it's also "the women knew!"

It was a different time is some shitbag argument anyway. Pretty sure it wasn't ever moral or okay to drug and rape teenagers. Maybe you could get away with it easier, sure. Doesn't mean that otherwise good moral people thought it was fine.
