While I don't have actual confirmation that they did it because of the Auralnauts stuff, in the Darth Vader Star Wars comics written by Kieron Gillen they introduced "Triple Zero" an evil protocol droid that talks a whole lot like Creepio.

Hey you know what???????? I have little to no memory of TPM and I haven't really seen Attack of the Clones. Even through Auralnauts, I can tell that they're at the very least more interesting than the paint-by-numbers crap we got in the sequel trilogy, even if they do look terrible.

The Jedi being selfish, cruel, unaccountable party animals is both a better story than the Jedi in canon and also less disturbing re: slavery is fine we just need to buy this one slave kid and ignore the rest of the injustice.
