crock pot pinto beans and ham should count as a soup since the liquid doesn't get thick unless you cook it too long. a little salt, pepper, spoon of brown sugar (or vinegar pepper sauce if you prefer) with a side of corn bread slathered with butter and honey

the first time i had pho in rural tennessee it was easily one of the best things I've ever tasted. I've been chasing that high ever since but even at the same restaurant I've never gotten another bowl in the same ballpark as that first one. dunno what that's about
