when i was a kid i would angrily insist that tails was a girl. and that he was a squirrell because a fox is much bigger than a hedgehog, whilst a squirell is a similar size. then a kid showed me a canon passage of text which described tails as "one cool airborne fox thanks to his radical twin tails rotor" and i developed a fuller understanding of the misery of the world
