  In the distant future of the year 1999, mankind has reached far into galactic space. And we're not alone! The galaxy is abuzz with alien species of all kinds - friendly, hostile, or merely cantankerous. It is a time of space navies and space pirates, laser guns and little furry alien mascots, ancient extrasolar dynasties and vast shadowy threats from beyond the asteroid belts of far-flung solar systems. It is a time where anyone with moxie and daring can succeed, whether you're a dashing rogue smuggling telepathic crystals from Gammatron Prime, a positronic brain android fresh off the factory line, or a vast cloud of psychic energy that feeds off anyone daring to set foot on your planet. This is Galaxy Frontier 1999. General Information This is a 70s space opera-themed Choose Your Own Role mafia game for any number of players (at least 13). Due to the wild nature of CYOR games almost any mechanics are on the table, but there will be no jesters, involuntary alignment changes, misleading role PMs, falsified flips or other similar mechanics involved. Expect role madness. Days will generally be approximately 48 hours long and nights 24 hours. Nights may end early if all actions are submitted; in that case leftover time will go into the day phase. The deadline will be approximately 10 pm UTC (5 pm EST), even if the day starts or ends early. Eliminations will be by majority vote with hammer once majority is reached. No-elimination days are possible. Your friendly moderators are yours truly and Shellception. What is a CYOR? In this game, you choose your own role! When you sign up and get added to your confessional on Discord, you need to send the moderators a brief description of what you want your role to be. Your submission should be a character, flavor, or general concept - something like "a space knight with a laser sword", "a starship captain who wants to bang every lifeform in the galaxy", or "Leeloo Dallas from Fifth Element". The moderators will interpret your submission and create a mechanical role based on the concept you submit. You can submit any concept you like, though I encourage you to stay within theme - but you don't have to, and even if you don't, your submission will be interpreted within the theme regardless. Focus on the concept, not the execution. Of course, nothing is stopping you from submitting "unlimited bulletproof day/night vigilante" as your concept - but those who push their luck may find a cargo hauler full of monkey paws waiting for them... This is fundamentally a role madness game, so expect your role to do something, unless you really insist on submitting "redshirt vanilla" as your role. Signups Sign up in the thread as usual. The game will not launch until it has at least 13 players. Once it reaches that threshold, you can still sign up. The game will grow to accommodate any number of players, and complexity will increase accordingly! Once 13 signups are reached, signups will stay open for about a week or so to allow people to continue signing up and submitting concepts. Rules and Regulations Standard rules apply.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, always remember that your mental well-being is more important than a forum game. While antagonism and deceit are inherent features of social deduction games, there are lines that should not be crossed that may be highly personal. If you feel stressed out, abused, angry, or in any other way discomforted beyond what you feel is part of the game, do not hesitate to reach out and say so. Nobody will think ill of you if you have comments or concerns, or want to leave the game at any point, before the game or during the game. Space has seen no finer vessel than the intergalactic cruiser GALAXY FRONTIER - part leisure ship, part space station, this massive ship carries within it all kinds of people from all walks of space-life, from lowly rogues and cantina bartenders to the rich and famous and the military elite. Today, it is cruising through the far-off Pinwheel Galaxy at a leisurely pace. Everything seem to be business as usual, until... An alarm blares! The ship is on lockdown! Nobody is allowed to enter, or leave. The captain of the ship lies with his head bashed in in the bridge, and nobody knows what killed him. What's worse, the ship is hurtling uncontrollably through space - it is only a matter of time before an errant meteor or sun smashes the ship to bits or burns it to cinders. Whoever is behind this act of sabotage - not to mention murder - must be stopped. But with the eclectic list of crew and passengers, that's easier said than done... The game starts now!
