this was a really good night. No dud sketches (aside from the opener, which i missed), a funny Update, a game-for-anything host, a Lonely Island song, all it needed was a more exciting musical guest and it would be the perfect episode of SNL. I wish we could have had Migos this week instead of for The Round Mound of Rebound.

... so I'm guessing Dua Lipa either didn't lip sync, or if she did, she did a great job syncing to a terrible pre-recorded track.

It didn't feel like a Lonely Island song (though it was pretty funny.)

I felt like the rhymes weren't tight enough to be a Lonely Island song, Andy was probably just doing a favor. I also think they would have used "An SNL Digital Short" if it was. EDIT: VVV Well gently caress me The Dave fucked around with this message at 04:26 on Feb 6, 2018 |

The Lonely Island already confirmed on Twitter they wrote it in L.A. and Samberg filmed his portion in L.A. https://mobile.twitter.com/thelonelyisland/status/960165010130354176

You’re not alone, I thought it was weak, as well. But, the original was never a fave of mine, either.

I'm sure they used to take more than a day to write something maybe

The song was more or less literally phoned in. I thought everything but weekend update was rather weak. You just can't work at the pace SNL requires for a month straight.

Happy Valentine's Day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twIgfEhXvXg And they kept the original music cues. drat. This sketch was only done twice - this, from the second episode of 1993-94 with Shannon Doherty, and again in November 1993 when Nicole Kidman hosted. She liked him and he canceled The Denise Show. And have a few real vintage Olympic bits from the 80s and 90s-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbCvSB9H6lI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYmA0zPiVHY

Looking forward to Hader. Barkley is consistently funny although he's at his best just being himself. I've never watched This Is Us so I don't know a thing about Brown.

I also haven't watched This Is Us. The previews started four years before the show began to build the hype, and I was burned out. "Ooooh, fat people find love! Black guy finds his long-lost father! White dude's family sure is in this a lot; I wonder if he'll die in a fire caused by a Crock-Pot® brand slow cooker?" Now if the show was called This Is Bus, I'd watch it. Just imagine, a big bus. Like, a huge bus. Insanely big. Impracticably big. Cruise-ship big--you know, irresponsibly big. Maybe it's nuclear-powered, and the flags of all nations can be deployed to augment the braking system in an emergency. Sure, that's been done before, but it worked then and it'd work now. And the show would be about all the crazy shenanigans the passengers get into--drama in dining area, high jinks in the ballroom, hanky-panky in the private suites. And the bus would go on all kinds of crazy adventures. Man, what a riot. I want that show. I want to watch This Is Bus. How about it, science?

SpannerX posted:well, there was this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supertrain Jesus! Looks like someone took the concept of The Big Bus, changed Bus to Train, and then neglected to mention to producers that The Big Bus was a comedy, and thus its setting (an impractically large version of an existing vehicle) was intentionally silly.
